You can't imagine many of the add on clauses were triggered can you? We didn't get promoted, appearance wise he's had a year and a bit out with his knee, then follow up injuries and he scored around 30 goals.

All good Baz. May the best man win πŸ‘πŸ½

666, I agree with you about putting too much pressure on the young striker. I think it would be a good move to give Vellios the number 9 shirt with the youngster 45 or whatever.

I'd also start Vellios against Millwall. Play the kid wide right, Carayol wide left.

For our second game against Shrewsbury leave Vellios out and play the youngsters. Front three The lad, Cummings, McKay

Mornchile .

Good luck, you're gonna need it!

Ready to spend?

Apparently James Justin (nursey at mirror) and Michael Hector (Nicko) are on the way. Can't see either making the starting line up.

Hector I find especially puzzling unless he can play CM, or more departures are planned

Bit harsh calling him Judas! He had a buy out clause, Boro met it and were prepared to pay him significantly more. They also have a far better chance of promotion than us. He's got to do what's best for his career so I don't blame him. It's a real shame because as usual we haven't seen our best players reach their potential for longer than a season. But £14m is good money for him given the injury he had and it's not like we don't have cover. As good as Britt is, he wasn't the perfect fit for MW's formation playing 4-3-3 so perhaps it is for the best. Let's just move on

It's not as if we sold our overrated ginger midfielder for eff-all to Watford
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So when you pay Peterborough what you owe them plus he sell on clause the deal is actually the same if not less overall value than the Hughes deal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is it? Are you working as our accountant now? Britt was a far more valuable asset than Hughes that much is clear. But they've both gone now and I don't blame them. Derby seem to be in some financial troubles too given the sales of Ince and Hughes #selling club
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well as it's reported as a £14m deal, not a £14m transfer I thought that would make sense to you. Secondly we are still signing players, despite your reported financial troubles.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What do our reported financial troubles have to do with you still signing players? You've signed a cheap fat midfielder and an average defender for very little. Clearly you need to balance the books.

πŸ˜‚ cheap and fat with more premier league appearances that the forest squad put together most likely

posted on 18/7/17

Very likely but could say same about Neil Ruddock!

And England appearances. Says he's fitter and sharper than he's ever been.

Be afraid, doggies, be very afraid

posted on 19/7/17

I also say I'm fitter and sharper than ever. It's complete nonsense of course, I just say it to convince the gf that I actually perform at a higher level than I actually do. Past glories...give me a double V and a red bull πŸ˜‰

It feels like they pop over every season to tell us how strong and well they're going to do, sometimes with some specifics. Usually on a thread that is totally unrelated (like this one) and when most of are concentrating on what we're doing.

After a couple of pre-seasons where it's been declared that a new manager is the one to progress them to promotion, you'd think there would be more caution.

As much as I'd prefer to finish above Derby; the main think I'd like is club clearly being run better, less drama off the pitch and a finish a few places above last year without ever really dicing with relegation.

Contrary to what most Derby fans have predicted over recent years, Premier League football is not something that was achieved, ergo Premier League experience is not essential (see Bradley Johnson)

Daryl Murphy! (Caulkin).

That can't be the best we can do can it?

Highly rated by Newcastle fans, experienced in this league, a different option to what we have.
Newcastle paid £3.5m less than a year ago.

If we are prepared to say £2m for his goals and contribution to assisting the young 'uns, then I'm happy with that.

You could argue he is a better finisher than Britt, and more of a threat on set pieces.

posted on 20/7/17

£2m quid isnt a huge outlay, his age makes him a perfect foil for Brereton and Cummings, he wont be demanding to play every week and will be happy with a cameo support role. You could imagine him starting maybe 20+ games next season, whilst being a different option from the bench. He'll also offer an experienced head in the dressing room as our two main strikers are now very young. I do hope the rumor of Cameron Jerome coming in isnt true, now he would a complete waste of cash!!!!

posted on 20/7/17

Not sure about Jerome he is certainly not worth the 5-6 million asking price being touted but last 2 seasons in the championship he has scored 18 and 16 goals respectively which isnt too bad but of course no guarantee he can reproduce that form

posted on 20/7/17

To be fair to Jerome, he is probably a player you a appreciate more when he is at your club.

posted on 21/7/17

Jerome isn't bad but that price tag should be out of Forest's range. Happier with Murphy at £2m as he is well prove at Championship level and is a little different to the strikers already at the club. I can see him being a super sub in a similar, but hopefully more consistent manner, way as Darius Henderson.

Will that's exactly what I thought, we don't want another Henderson! Think he's much better than that anyway. Definitely not a better finisher than Britt though!!!

posted on 21/7/17

Henderson would have been a Forest hero like Osborn if he had tucked that penalty away v Derby!

I been watching some of his goals for Ipswich and he is a danger on both feet in and outside the box, plus great with his head.

Hope you're right! Just felt that Britt was one of those natural strikers. Saying that, Murphy is much better in the air and has two feet
