Probably. Once Lampard and Terry retired, that was it. No world class players left in the squad.
They do have some very good players though and it is his job to get them to play together as a unit and early signs are he gets them to play like the wally with the brolly

Southgate is a terrible choice for manager. A typical go with the flow fa stooge. There are plenty of very good players available. We don't have a Ronaldo or messi but never have,neither have Germany yet they've done alright. No courage in the coaching and boring football in every game for the last many years.
Those players can be exciting for their clubs but are hamstrung by tactical instructions from limited text book only coaching.

World Cup maybe not, but the euros have been won by worse teams than this England side.
We won't win anything soon though I don't think.
We have players that could be on their way. Certainly top class.
It's the dire lack of midfield options that worry me. Good players capable of very good games, but nothing close to top level
Southgate needs to play the same team, get them organised and be difficult to beat.
No Hodgson like tinkering on the eve of of a big competition.

Fully agree. Dont think that we Germans have world class players in our team when we won the WC.

England have good players, so let's play guys in form and not the big name players. We win 4-0 and it was boring, but England won.
Load of old toss. England have a lot of decent players, he's just getting his excuses in early. They persistently under perform. The who England set up is screwed.

I would say Kane is world class. I would say he is in the top 5 strikers in the world.
England have some very good players. If a manager like Klopp/Poch got hold of this group he could turn them into a high pressing attacking outfit that could challenge. Unfortunately, we continuously hire rubbish managers.
