Not sure why Europa is a distraction. Squads are big enough and there are no reserve leagues. Its a good way for keeping players in form.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But when the inevitable injuries come if we're still in it we'd have to use the same players on Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon.. not good at top level football
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wenger mostly played a youth team against Southampton last season in the FA Cup. A much more important tournament. And we beat them 5-0. Frankly some in our youth team are better than the first team right now. Wenger just won't play them. For example I think Maitland-Niles is better than Elneny and Coq. But those two will always get selected ahead him in the prem because of his lack of experience.

Don't know why Arsenal fans aren't embracing it. You should easily win it with your squad if you take it seriously, and you won't get stuffed by anyone.

A distraction?? Ha. As if we'd have any chance of winning the league even if we had no other games barring PL games to play.

If that's your logic then the CL has been a distraction to us for the last 17 years.

Don't know why Arsenal fans are hating on this comp. We have no chance of winning the league and even top 4 will be a massive struggle with 6 teams competing for it. Europa offers a good opportunity to win something in Europe and get back in the CL.

Ok, we have to play some poor teams in the group but last year we had Ludogorets and Basel in the CL - not exactly glamorous teams are they?

I don't agree that we have no chance of winning the league. I think all the top 6 have a chance as no one squad is clearly superior. It will come down to who can find consistency as always and having 1 game a week will definitely make that more likely to be us.

In the same way Hazard chose Chelsea over Man Utd or us.
----------------------------------------------------------
Chelsea had just won the CL.

Don't know why any fan wouldn't want to win EL. It's easy and fun
-------------------------
John Bico got kicked out of Carrington by Ferguson for his outrageous demands for Hazard.
Wenger just laughed.

The Europa is the ugly bird of football.

Arsenal are the ugly, fat bird of football.

So Arsenal fans would sooner their club qualify for a tournament they have no chance of winning(the CL)but don't want their club to take a cup they can win (europa league) seriously.

No wonder Wenger has clung on in the job for years with that type of logic
----------------------------------------------------------------------

its the reason we dont have lemar playing for us now, so players agree, same as why sanchez wants out
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ffs Digby, wake up and smell the coffee. After years of excuses and Wenger saying how close he was to signing this or that great player, you cannot seriously believe what you just typed.

As things are, and as long as Wenger and Kroenke are around, winning the Europa is just about your ceiling. Until at least one, if not both, of those are gone, you can kiss goodbye to the days of Arsenal winning the league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But it's a fact that Lemar didn't join as he wanted champions League football. That's all the comment was about not sure what the rest has to do with it

"Fact"?

Where did he say that?

"Players agree"

There are plenty of cases out there of names much bigger than Lemar moving to clubs that don't have CL football to offer.

Such as who this summer?

If it allows Reiss Nelson to get first team experience it will be hugely beneficial in the long term.

The schedule ain't great, but even when we were in the CL they would make us play away on Wednesday then in the PL at 12:30 on the Saturday...

You just came to call me names then, your comments aren't really to do with anything. Can you find anything that says Lemar didn't turn down arsenal because he wants to play in the Champions League, that was sort of the point

Why is Europa beneath Arsenal after 15 failed attempts to win the Champions League? Why is it better to be pumped by Bayern? Only in about two of your cl campaigns did you have a real chance of actually going the distance.

You should go all out to win the League Cup and Europa imo. People won't be laughing if do both these very winnable trophies in one season.

And it's set up nicely. If you don't hesitate group stages right, you can play loads of kids before the knockouts.

Seems like you're being intentionally obtuse.

First, the burden of proof is on you, who claimed as a "fact" that Lemar refused to join due to the lack of CL footy.

Second, you then decide without justification that the frame of reference for recognised players joining non-CL clubs should be "this summer", for no good reason.

Finally, even given this absurd condition, you fail to realise that, apart from countless others around Euruope, you have the example of Lacazette at your very own club.

Pretty absurd to use this transfer window as an example for this transfer window

posted on 14/9/17

and who are the countless others around europe?

the players milan bought? lacazette? sigurdsson?

posted on 14/9/17

Absurd in that it's just a feeble and futile attempt at narrowing the goalposts to suit your argument. As if the gist of the argument was players' readness to join non-CL clubs "in this transfer window". It happens every window.
