I still rate Ozil but we don't need another no.10 to stick on the right wing. Literally the last area I'd strengthen.

Hardly ever seen him have a decent game against any decent opposition

Pogba's great though right?

Ozil is one of many at Arsenal who people think are overrated or $hit, but is actually a victim of a stale approach under a dinosaur manager. Under a quality manager he'd look a class player, no doubt.

Don't need Ozil already got pogba.

Unless you have very intelligent players on a par with Kroos and Muller that Ozil can communicate with telepathically he will struggle.

Ozil's a quality footballer but a midfield three of Pogba, Ozil and Matic would be suicide.

His creativity would be welcome at the club but I don't think he's the right fit nor are we in the position to try and help him find his way again.

Matic Pogba Ozil sounds good to me with Rashford, Martial and Lukaku

Just hope we score a lot

Imagine the meltdown on ArsenalFanTv if we did sign him.

Sanchez and Ozil for nothing would be good business this summer

The site would need to permanently shut down if that happened

I just live in hope Dazza.

I don't mind his pragmatism, but I hope he lets the reins off in some games

It's the hope that kills you, mate.

Ozil isn't a bottler for Germany. He even tries and gets ball back for them as he knows his coach won't accept any less.

Wenger is the problem not Ozil imo.

Ozil isn't a bottler but his style doesn't really suit big PL games. Would suit us brilliantly for games we have all the ball though, but with Mkhi and Mata where would he play?

posted on 14/9/17

He is a bottler. He often disappeared in big games for Madrid as well, just nowhere near as much as for Arsenal as Madrid are much better than them.

A midfield of Matic, Pogba and Ozil doesn't inspire much confidence for the big games does it?

Don't think Mourinho would entertain such an open midfield for them anyway.

"A midfield of Matic, Pogba and Ozil doesn't inspire much confidence for the big games does it? "

Not unless we dramatically changed out approach to big games.

I agree I doubt it's something Jose is considering. Would be great for the lesser teams though.

It's not just the approach, though. It's the balance between the players and their skill set along with their being issues over their ability to perform in big games anyway.

It'd be found wanting regardless of coach and approach I reckon.

Unless there was some huge improvements from the individuals in question.

Jose Mourinho has called him the best no.10 in the world before, wouldn't be surprised if he's already been in his ear.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didnt he also tell him to grow a pair of balls, or words to that effect?

posted on 14/9/17

Mata hasn't been playing in the middle Mkhi has. Mkhi works much harder off the ball than Ozil and actually puts in tackles.

I think Herrera will gradually be brought back into the team as well to shore things up a bit. I think Mourinho's only gone with this midfield due to our fixtures and looking to find some confidence in attack.

We'll see how he sets up when we have a big game.

Plus I don't think that midfield inspires much confidence in big games anyway. It's going to be an issue for us again this season, in my opinion.

It's ridiculous we still have such issues given what we've been able to do in the transfer market.

Failing that they can try German

Whilst he'd get a fair few assists, if Lukaku can sort his feet out that is I can't see how he'd be a good fit.

He's best when he's allowed to float around behind the CF, find pockets of space etc & for that to work you need your inside forwards to be flexible & the likes of Pogba to be more disciplined/holding - which from what I've seen, really isn't his game.

Wouldn't surprise me if mourinho did it just for the wind up though

posted on 14/9/17

True, wouldn't put it past him just to piiiiss off Wenger.
