Shaw has looked a million miles away from the form, fitness and confidence he was showing in the games leading up to his leg break. He wasn't the finished article by any means, but he was playing the best football of his career to date and there was a platform from which he could develop - especially in the final third of the pitch.
I'm not sure he'll ever recover at this point. He keeps picking up injuries meaning he's never match fit (or fit at all, it seems), he's had a bit of a strained relationship with Mourinho and the club must be looking at new options.
To be fair to Shaw, he'd gotten himself into the best shape he'd been in after being criticised for his fitness, was hyped up and given real support by LvG, started the season excellently and then had it cruelly ended. I imagine that must be quite demotivating, especially if you're not the most driven sort of character in the first place, which it seems Shaw isn't. Add the injuries, change of manager, getting over the psychological aspect of such a leg break and so on... That won't be easy to recover from and, like I say, we might be at the point where we cut our loses.

We put too much pressure on young players and destroy them. Same with wheelchair and is happening now with Alli.
