The UK is near the bottom of a league table for the wellbeing of children and the happiness of teenagers.

UNICEF found children in general across the world are underperforming at school, more likely to be obese and to feel unhappy compared to several years ago.

The UK ranks 21 out of 36 when compared to other high-income countries for child wellbeing, with countries such as France, Spain and Portugal near the top.

Also above the UK are Romania, Slovakia, Lithuania and Hungary, while the Netherlands and Denmark retain their position as the two countries where children are happiest and have the highest levels of wellbeing.

Good old Brexit Britain

Ange wasn't angry, she was disappointed.

Rude answer to a snide question, Starmer should do better but I don't think enough people have seen the full quote to his "island of strangers" comment

"Let me put it this way: Nations depend on rules - fair rules. Sometimes they're written down, often they're not, but either way, they give shape to our values. They guide us towards our rights, of course, but also our responsibilities, the obligations we owe to one another. Now, in a diverse nation like ours, and I celebrate that, these rules become even more important.

Without them, we risk becoming an island of strangers, not a nation that walks forward together."

Now we can say it's once again an example of his govt losing the battle on comms but he is being misquoted

So the last line was completely unecessary and probably put in by a speech writer who reads entirely too much MAGA on 4chan?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Haha not sure but I think they're aim is not to.beat Reform from the right but to put immigration chat to bed

Lol good luck

Ok, it's a bit flowery but where's the racism in that?

This is pure evidence of the Naaazi Israeli regime bombing civilians in broad daylight but no one gives a flying fack

Unsurprising when even people like Corbyn and Diane Abbott are still retaining seats

They are good mps

Agreed Darren

Corbyn is an absolutely briliiant MP for standing up in the house of commons and comparing Starmer's words to Enoch Powell's

Corbyn is partly to blame for Brexit yet no one on the Hard Left will criticise him for that.

What exactly has Diane Abbott achieved apart from holding the record for mentioning she lives in Hackney several trillion times.

It's like living in an 80's Disco with Reform taking the place of the BNP and the Looney Left being an actual thing again with Corbyn still the main protagonist like he was 40 years again.

Here's a good thread on why Starmers comments were awful and stupid but not comparable to Powell

https://bsky.app/profile/robertsaunders.bsky.social/post/3lp4td7boyk22

Starmer's language was deplorable.

It was grotesquely offensive, accusing people who have brought their gifts to this country of doing "incalculable" "damage"; & politically foolish, in endorsing Farage's claims of an establishment conspiracy.

But bad analogies with Powell miss the key problem. 🧵

Nah, the gotcha is that according to the yougov poll, your opinion on this is most aligned with reform voters.

I'm sure that's a consistent view for you.

For others Keir has managed to normalise shifting right enough that they've joined the club.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the irony of Keir getting grouped in with the far right for having a majority opinion on immigration.

The group of people who are comparing his speech to Enoch Powell's have been labelling everyone left of themselves far right for many years now. All over the internet people who denied they existed are now laughing at them and calling them deluded.

The MP's who are most outspoken on Israel are the ones that compared Starmer's speech to Enoch Powell's. Make of that what you will.

Labour and Lib Dem voters are most likely to have an issue with the sentiment (not just the phrasing) of what he said and Tories and Reform the least.

It is a consistent view because he consistently courts controversy by supporting terrorists or anyone else with an anti-British agenda.
