The International Association of Genocide Scholars has made a decision according to which Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip meet the legal criteria for genocide. 86 percent of the researchers who participated in the vote supported the decision

Yeh but that's like deciding that water is wet.
What's more important imo is that recognised international institutions are no longer afraid to hold Israel to the same standards as other countries and publicly declare the crimes they're committing. It's been a long time coming, too long.

Yep Reform syphoned off a collapsing Tory vote. No surprises there.
Labour haven't been perfect but they haven't been a disaster either. Only today they've introduced free childcare of up to 30 hrs a week which will save working families approx £7500 a year meaning ppl aren't simply working to pay for childcare costs. Labour have introduced workers rights, which includes securing the minimum wage and getting rid of exploitative zero hour contracts all of which Reform voted against. They've raised disposable incomes by the 2nd largest increase of any elected government since 1987 in its first year, not that this will make any headlines in the right wing press. They've signed trade deals with India and U.S. and a new agreement with the E.U. that cuts down on all the red tape and reducing customs checks on food and animal products which is a step forward for SMEs given the 5h1tshow that is Brexit. They've reduced hospital waiting lists, met their target of delivering 2 million more NHS appointments in their first year, and recruited 1500 extra GPs.
Of course there's more to do but that there is a damned sight better than blaming the immigrants and the poor for everything and shouting meaningless bollox like "tAkE bACk COntrOL!!!" whilst pocketing millions from oil companies which is all Farage seems to do.

Has anyone else read Rory Stewart’s book on his time in office? Ploughed through it this weekend gone, and although there were some interesting insights on life in the Commons, British realpolitik, and ministerial-civil service relationships, I was a tiny bit disappointed tbh, given the hype. (I’d still recommend it to anyone particularly interested in the respective period of British political history or the machinations of British party politics.)
He writes and recounts well enough; but it’s pretty light on both detail (which I guess you’d expect for only 400 pages on a decade’s work) and his views of many important policies of Cameron and May’s tenures.
Some rather excellent character profiles, though, with interesting pictures painted of Cameron (PR man, hugely deferential to the Yanks, contemptuous of dissent, pretty cold - although Stewart comes around somewhat on analysis of progress he makes in some areas), May (measured, calculating, somewhat studious, able to separate the public and private), and Boris (unsurprisingly a spectacularly superficial clown).
There is one categorical hit job though: Truss. She sounds like an absolute nightmare of a human being, never mind politician.
Smart enough; but critically, convinced that she’s 100 times smarter than everyone else around her. Smug, dismissive, belittling, entirely incapable of constructive critical thought as a result of ego-reinforced preconceptions.
