Aitor Karanka’s Red and White Army. I pity whoever is sat in front of me at the Villa match as they’ll be covered in spittle after a few rounds of that chant...

Would expect him to definitely improve you albeit with the help of 2 - 3 transfer windows.

Another positive is that he has got enough time in this transfer window to persue at least a couple of targets.
As I have said before it would have been fantastic if MON had given it a shot, I still believe he could have done his international duties in his spare time, however, it’s not to be. I sincerely hope Karanka is given a decent length of time to build his ‘project ect’, at least the end of next season, only time will tell.
I would imagine the fans expectations will be quite high due to his achievements at Middlesbrough, ironically any money he has to spend will come from the sale of Judas to the Boro’. IMO he is the best we could have attracted in our current situation.👍

Bamford anyone?...

I thought that we might have been interested in Chris Martin before regime change overtook us.

Really pleased with this appointment - probably the best candidate we could've hoped for given the position we're in. The top dogs at the club need a pat on the back for luring Karanka to the CG, as he was holding out for a PL job.

For what it's worth I didn't want MW sacked, but seeing the way we played against Arsenal, and to a lesser extent Leeds, wouldn't have happened under MW, so maybe a change was needed. I just hope we're not looking for another manager in X months time, and this one stays for years and really builds something exciting

He brought a few in on loan from Mourinho at Chelsea. Maybe that relationship could prove fruitful for the Reds too?

Received this earlier today from a boro contact.

Billy tried several times to get Leadbitter to CG but was always turned down. Perhaps?

Leadbitter might be the most viable one off that list. Not too many years younger than Vaughan but proven in this league. He is a good leader and would be a great captain.

We’re choc-a-bloc of hungry youngsters right now. Leadbitter would be just what we need, and realistically one of a limited few in our price range.

Happy with karanka, would have him over higginbottom, Hughes et al. We could have very easily gone backwards in appointing a new manager, this is atleast a side step if not a forward one.

With how patient the club has been appointing a new manager, waruburtons sacking feels less reactionary. I’d be more inclined to believe waruburtons targets weren’t deemed satisfactory.

Would be interested to see who is brought in to replace McParland.

Don’t really know who Karanka’s back room staff are. Believe the goalkeeping coach from Warburton’s crew survived the cull?

Smart money seems to be on moves by Karanka for Adam Clayton and Patrick Bamford this month. I would be happy with both of those as long as it wasn’t to appease fans after a Brereton exit. Bamford would be more likely to be a loan as it is only a year since Boro spent £6m on him.

Pulis is keen to wheel and deal this month to try and get Boro ship shape for a top six push so there could be some deals to be had.

Clayton could possibly be the bit of muscle that Forest are lacking in midfield. Would provide some good competition for Vaughan, Bridcutt and Bouchalakis.

He is also a fan of Ayala and Gibson. Think both of those are more valued at the Riverside, though.

Personally, I'm very glad MON came nowhere near the managers job. Great player and pundit, but hasn't been a decent club manager or a championship manager in six years and had a worse record than Aitor in the previous four years at Villa.

Games moved on massively. His time to join us gas well and truly passed, hence his move to International footballl.

We're lucky that the dinosaurs of the English game didn't go near us. Karanka's record is very good. 25 points from 27 in the EPL.

Surely with 11 games left you let him finish the job? Not sure why that's a failure.

His signings don't look good on paper, but he got the job done.

Leadbitter or Clayton would be fine, afraid I don’t rate Bamford at all, would sooner have Jorge Grant back than waste loan money on Bamford.
Not sure Boro’ will let either of those two leave, but at least they are good positive targets.
First and foremost get Eric signed up.

posted on 10/1/18

He is likely to go for players he knows well. Hope the likes of Grant aren’t forgotten out on loan.

Yates has gone to Scunthorpe for the rest of the season after signing a new deal with Forest.

Why would we want Bamford fcs? Leadbitter yes or a decent Centre Half and a Left Back.

I'm not too impressed if we're only scouting Middlebrough's cast offs.

It’s all media speculation. He has barely got his feet under the desk. I think he might possibly go for Clayton or Leadbitter if they’re available but I think he would have spent the last nine months planning for when he got his next job so will have a list of targets.

Karanka’s odds right back in now. I’m going to put a bet on that it won’t be him or Heckingbottom. Bookies trying to rob people again?...
