Also look at how Bruce at Villa did last season.
Now this season much better.
Leeds have a new manager working with a new squad of players in a league he has never worked in before. Chances of getting promotion in such a season are very slim.
thats all well and good but quite a few on here have been saying for a while now that our midfield is non existent bar viera who isnt the finished article yet, that we badly needed a LB, a pacy winger and a decent striker. there is also the goalkeeping position that is in bad need of an upgrade. The scattergun transfer policy doesnt work and its about time Radz realised that and that the person he trusted to do it aint up to the task. Would also like to know who advised him on the crazy contracts being given out to players who at best belong in l1 never mind PL.
With what we have now and if we had kept Green i think we would have an extra 6-9 points, if we had kept Taylor as well maybe up to about 12 points and as for Wood then i think we would be chilling the champers already for our promotion party. I know these players wanted to leave so if we couldnt keep them we should have replaced with players as good at least and not dross. To that throw in a decent CM and pacy winger who has an idea as to what hes supposed to be doing and we would be laughing now.
Surely if we can see where the team is lacking so should those in charge and had a list of suitable targets drawn up to act on as soon a window opened and not be sitting half way through scratching around. I really hope De Bock turns out to be a good LB and we also try and get in a decent striker this window leaving us needing 3 players in the summer. Problem is how long is Janssen and Siaz going to be happy playing in lower league if teams from PL come calling. To many times we have made the same mistakes and waited to bring in decent players and lost other good players along the way. Radz needs to realise he has this and next window to get things right or we will be back to square one again
The storming start and AR stating that his goal was to improve on last year set us up for the year, as a consequence nearly everyone wants us to buy buy buy in this window.
AR's assertion that we would improve on last year whilst it was good to show ambition really was no more sabre rattling and he should either not have said it or backed it up with bringing in better players.
Given his track record I wouldn't even trust Orta to go to the local spar to buy the tea-bags.
As long as we don't end up in a relegation dog fight we shouldn't be too concerned. This year will not be our year, panic buying to try and change that will not work.
Wait until the summer.
I’ve heard this for 5 years
It’s always next year
The transfer policy has been a utter disaster
my worry is that I think they feel vieira, Phillips, okane, klich and ideguchi is good enough for our CM next season.
Potato makes great points
And I’ll I keep hearing is, next year next year
You can’t pick and choose when you get promoted
The transfer policy has been a utter disaster
----
This.
And it's not a case of building long term or being impatient because most of the guys signed in the summer won't be long term good players. Signed 15 players but still need at least 3.
3 year plan or whatever it is, just great way of keeping people quiet for couple years.
If we finish outside the playoffs, somebody needs sacking.
If I was AR that person would be Orta.
I'd be saying you are wasting my money,
Cibicki and Klich
3m worth of transfer fees
Say 5k a week over 4 years - another 2m of wages
5m quid on players who on the face of it look totally rubbish.
Worrying thing is ortas been around this division before and we can't use the "he's underestimated it excuse"
Best
All these players who we’ve signed on long term deals, most need replacing and need replacing now.
It’s ok saying some are for the future.
Well am hoping we’d be in the prem within two years, and most wont be anywhere near good enough, they just haven’t the scope to be prem players even if they improve.
I’ve got a feeling, that the policy is too try to make none on player dealings, signed players and hope they end up being saleable. I think it could work the other way and they’ll become unsaleable and it will cost a fortune to get rid.
Someone said to sell okane yesterday.
Only place your selling him to is down the divisions and you gonna end up subsiding some of his wages...
You'd assume we're stuck with this lot for a few good few years.
3 years at least for okane until we're around a time pay him off.
Pretty frightening that someone(s) think that during the plan these players will take us up

Yeah but “next year” we always had a new manager after selling our best players. Hopefully that cycle has ended.

One of the expert pundits said he was playing well until the sending off. I can’t really argue with that having watched the game,
The people who are so relaxed saying ‘we will get it right next season’, based on what?
We are further away from promotion than we were last season. The recruitment overall has been a shambles.
We are now in need of at least 4 top signings, providing this LB works out. Heading into this season we needed less than that.
AR is a step up on previous owners, but we’ve gone backwards on the pitch with him so far, and I don’t see how that’s going to change.

Look there's playing well for eunan okane and theres playing well.
There's also "playing well" when your next to kalvin Phillips (who yesterday couldn't pass to a leeds shirt)
Let's be honest stoopo, someone offers 10m for saiz or jansson and they are off.
Phil hay confirmed my suspicions the other day also ; that the de bock signing was purely reactive to aylings injury and as soon as they found out about surgery they went and targeted a LB.
That is worrying, that it takes a season ending injury to trigger them into a 1.5m signing of a position we desperately needed a player for.
Before he came to England, Orta was at Zenit and Sevilla. Two clubs who weren't at risk of relegation or didn't need to get promoted. They were basically set in their position and could afford to sign lots of players at a relatively low cost and either sell them on or one of the gambles pay off and be in the first team. When they worked, it was Hulk or Zokara or Squillaci and their worth out weighed the ones that didn't work.
At Leeds and Boro, the teams need players for now who would make an immediate impact and Orta's style hasn't worked. Just the wrong man for the job.
Scattergun approach doesn't work etc, to be fair Orta and Radz have had ONE, just ONE window. Rome wasn't built in a day. Saiz is a wonderful find, Ekuban will develop into a big player for us and Alioski I think definitely improves us. Unlike previous years we've made a FEW good signings, not one okay and 10 dross.
How many seasons is it gonna take though.
So we know we won't be in January - so we have one window a season to get everything right.
Just not gonna happen, they will sell if good offers come in.
Just sick to the back teeth of it all.
if this year was supposed to be a transition year then im sure those in charge have realised lasoggy and grot arent up to it as strikers and i dont buy the grot is young line, hes showed nothing and i dont see how that can improve. to me roofe isnt a lone striker and needs a target man to play off, could that be ekuban, the jury is still out, what we have seen of him he looks decent and pacy but is he also injury prone.

I personally wouldnt want to pay 7-8 million for hugill as dont think hes what we need or worth it but a more shrewd option possibly madine from bolton but there is options out here who we at least have some idea about rather tha some guy who almost made german world cup squad only to find out when he arrived it was for their tiddlywinks team

That's actually incredibly similar to previous years.
Last summer- Green, Bartley, Jansson, Hernandez, Ayling
Summer 15 - Chris Wood, Dallas
Summer 14 - Cooper, Antenucci, Berardi
I don't think we played badly yesterday but we do need a couple of good aignings....a striker and a CM
My hope is we sign a decent striker this window who leads us from the front and that de bock is a decent lb who can attack as well as defend then come the summer James Milner decides to come home and play for peanuts and the pleasure of helping take Leeds back to PL. Maybe Carson comes back too as a better option in goal or we find a top keeper and another of these shot in the dark transfers turns out to be a player like gradel when he was on fire for us and why the heck not if im dreaming Snoddy decides he wants to come back and become a legend the way strachan did
Wakey three options as I see it, one is we are good enough now (which we are not), two is we are not good enough but need only a few players in the right positions, the kind of players that we can recruit in this window and the third is at this point we are nowhere near good enough and we need to recruit quality right through the team.
You seem somewhat confused in your thinking, on the one hand you say we are not good enough, have recruited poorly and offered long term contracts to players not capable of steering us upwards and on the other that we should be looking to come up this year.
We need to stop thinking of this year being the year, it is clear we have gone backwards and with all the injuries and ridiculous suspensions we are unlikely to be able to field a team capable of challenging for the play-offs.
