They Lost England the game as well the pathetic bowling from Wood. Who seems incapable of bowling a good length.

All those batman were forced to play shots from ball one.
12 overs left to play and we bat all the way down to 10.
Selfish innings from Root. His strike rate should have been at 150 at least. Bairstow could do it.

Can't blame Root. He played 2nd fiddle to Bairstow and then upped the rate but England had 5 power hitters to follow who let the team down.

Not having that!

In any ODI you need someone at one end to keep the team from collapsing and Joe played that role perfectly. The middle order are there to play themselves in within an over and then start swinging.

England owe many a collapse in previous years to no one digging in and holding up an end.

Our bowling at the death is also some of the worse in international cricket and always has been.

Root cannot take blame for this

It was the arrogance of the team that lost England the game most of all..They just didn't care.. It was like yeahhhh we can bash this and the next person yeah we we can whack this. The England team don't have the ability to have such arrogance.
We should have got 360 from the position were in at one point..

Like all the comments above, can't fault Root for that game. He does play slow at times but that innings was a measured innings with Bairstow doing the attacking and 5 attackers to come after him. His job should simply have been to rotate the strike, not attack which is what he did.

What a nonsense post, Root did what he's there to do. Him and Bairstow set us up perfectly for a mammoth score but that requires the big hitters coming in to actually score some runs.

Not come in and hit the ball from ball 1? Yes, they should be expected to come in and score quick runs from the off, that's generally how it works in modern ODI cricket as they play a lot of T20. Curran managed 22 from 10 balls so the others have no excuse I'm afraid.

Joe Root did what Joe Rot does which is score at a run a ball, anything more than that usually costs him his wicket.

12 overs should be 100 runs easy. Those big hitters getting out far too tamely were the main reasons for losing.

Maybe rest him this summer from the Odis to manage his workload. Must for the world cup but risks burn out for me test captain and playing all formats.
