Spiderverse 2. 8.2/10. Story was so so, loses points from that, not bad, just not all that interesting. .

But the direction, art style (multiple art styles they never facked up on when changing about, which is a hell of an achievement whilst keeping it consistent), inventiveness, overall style blew me away. Probably the best animation style I’ve ever seen, it was incredible. The whole movie was like that bit in 1917 in the burning French town, that stops your breath (without the emotional and spiritual awe) Astoundingly good in a technical sense, very, very impressed.,

It feels like they need an Oscar for art, and this sets the standard. Hats off to the art and animation team on this.

Especially Gwen honestly story was decent, not great. But I was totally blown away by the rest, it’s in its own world of inventiveness. Astoundingly well made , got to imagine the big animation studios watched that, and though, we’ve been slacking…

Agreed. The stories have been lacklustre and the novelty of the first season has worn off.

why is it people give Spiderman props for looking amazing, yet bash Avatar for looking better!.

the visuals in Avatar are far more impressive than the Spidermans yet Spiderman is praised for looking so good and Avatar is almost mocked for it.

It’s the inventive art style(s) of spiderverse that made it great, the story wasn’t particuarly riveting so it’s probably not the best film I’ve seen this year, but direction, invention, art style and animation were absolutely class

Id say Avatar was much much more inventive!!

Im not knocking Spiderman just think its hypocritical for certain posters to literally mock Avatar for a lot of the same things they praise Spiderman for.

They didn’t nail story, didn’t find it all that interesting, and spent far more time marveling at the perspective, art style, switch ups in direction and colour etc, which was absouletely nailed. Storyline I didn’t really care much about. I loved the small details in the art design, like in how some characters would almost have a different texture in the same frame as others, the bleed of colour, it was a work of art.

It as a rehashed overdone story, that is one of the best looking and technical films of all time.

The main difference between the visuals in Avatar 2 and Spiderverse is the storytelling element.

In Avatar 2, the movie looks stunning in the same way a wildlife documentary does. It's presenting the world in a hyper realistic way, almost as if you're there.

In Spiderverse, the animation is flows from one style to another, in seamless fashion. The colors and the textures add to each scene and they tell their own story. When certain emotions are being displayed, the art style will adapt to help enhance them. The difference universes and it's characters have their own unique animation style.

im not comparing them in that sense, im comparing them in the sense of the people that say Avatar is nothing that special visually but say something like Spiderverse is amazing visually.

This is what I was taking about, it was superbly done. The story however wast that good, and some dialogue was cringe, but the visuals pre than made up, astonishing animation

I personally enjoyed both visually.

I suspect the main reason why people don't comment on Avatar 2 as much, is the basic story and writing. The visuals are stunning but we've seen the same visuals in Avatar 1. Spiderverse 1 had great visuals but Spiderverse 2 improved upon them in a way that not many predicted.
