Lol this came out of nowhere what about Arteta
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is probably the case that Emery was always lined up, we just respected PSG and Emery not to leak it. No coincidence that the news comes today, given PSG only ended their league campaign on Saturday evening.
Arteta was probably lined up as number 2.
The best news is that our chances of signing N'Zonzi just increased massively
What's his relationship with Rabiot like? We are always linked with him anyway.

Don't think it's a very good appointment, would be very underwhelmed if I was an Arsenal fan. Especially as Moyes is available.

TOP BANTZ M8

In all seriousness though this is a dreadful appointment, can see Arsenal sinking even further. Spineless manager to go with an already spineless team is not a good match.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you think we will stay up??
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Definitely. I can't see you finishing above Burnley like this season though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can't see that for United to be honest.
Gollem Ballague on Emery
Emery is a coach first and foremost. He adapts to teams and his players. He's thorough/meticulous which by the way has been missing at AFC for a while. He'll add structure/purpose, players will learn of their obligations and responsibilities, will have 2 come out of comfort zone
His English has to improve but has been learning for years on and off. And it is important he improves it soon because part of his magic is the face to face with players. He has learnt to reduce the amount of tactical info he gives and training sessions are varied/entertaining
He is not a coach of one style but makes his teams varied and with many lawyers. His intensity is reflected in the way he lives the match from the bench. Watch the videos!
He talks some rubbish on transfer rumours sometimes but his views on the game in general are pretty good.
Rabiot out of contract next year and already linked with Spurs
To be fair, pretty much every CM he has worked with at PSG & Seville, in theory, seem better than our options for a 4-2-3-1
Aren’t PSG trying to renew his contract? Read the owner is a massive fan.
Yeah they are but presumably missing out on the French squad has made him question his future.
Still won't believe it until I see Mkhitaryan saying "Yo, Unai!" in a slickly edited video on the club's Instagram page.
Good appointment for Arsenal I reckon, can see them being competitive next season.
Maybe, I think the issue is more to do with Dechamps than where he plays. Gets quite a lot of games. Good player.
David Silva and Juan Mata are just a couple of star players that initially developed under Emery's management, and his europa league record speaks for itself, though his tactics in the Cl have been found wanting.
Not my preferred choice but i'm satisfied and will give him a fair chance.
I just want to know when the process of identifying a new manager began and how it proceeded. Did Emery plan to quit PSG with the prior knowledge that he was taking over from Wenger? Or did the Arsenal board get lucky that he was avaliable?
Not overly excited but looking forward to next season !
Board are kantsss. I think they made a smoke screen with Arteta...so Emery obviously feels like good appointment compared to Arteta.
I think board were lucky that Emery became available...or else we were in deep trouble.
I think initially he'll do well, the contrast in style with Wenger could help add a bit more pragmatism to what's already a talented, technical squad.
I'm not sure about him long-term though (and I say that in the knowledge that no manager is likely to stay 10 years in this job, let alone 22) as I feel he has a touch of Benitez about him. Good cup manager but can be guilty of being too defensive to sustain a real league challenge. Also prone to bottling.

I thought it was always on the cards that he was to leave at the end of this season, his replacement got named a few months ago
Gonna need some better defenders in the summer. Emery’s teams aren’t very good defensively.
To be appointed later this week.
Perfectly satisfied by this.
Wenger announced he was leaving on 20th April, Emery on 27th April.
Add to the timing (Ligue 1 ended Saturday) it looks like this was always in the pipeline.
