Tomlin was ok but was a 60 minute player who faded badly in every game I saw him play. The fees mentioned for him were not good value for someone who is essentially a super sub. I think Karanka has done good business in Soudani and the Portuguese forwards that more than compensate for Tomlin’s loss.

Defensive midfielder - expressed his desire for Colback.
Right back - Byram keeps getting mentioned.

Wouldn’t mind cover at left back as well!

One article has said Forest should go for Adam Clayton over Colback. Having seen both play in this league I have to say I agree with that. Boro would not want to sell to Karanka, though, as we have already seen with the alleged Bamford and Fabio bids.

I can't see Ben Osborn as a fullback, the only reason for pushing the boat out a little for Colback, perhaps on loan again is if he can play left fullback imo.

Got Robinson/Osborn and a lad from the Academy who’s name escapes me as left back options. That’s enough for now IMO.

Rumour is Colback is coming on a season loan. His contract is up next summer. Saves a transfer fee. Not a bad deal for the Reds if true.

Colback is now a Red. Will be in pole position sign him next summer when he becomes a free agent too. Hope he will settle in well and show the form he did when he initially signed back in Jan as I thought he tailed off after Easter IMO.

Traore has signed for a Turkish side.

Fair play to him. Wish him well. Hope he can settle in there and find that elusive consistency. Would be a waste of a career otherwise.

Ryan Yates likely to go out on loan for the season. Rotherham are the likeliest destination. That’d please the in laws who are all Millers. They are definitely in need of a bit of quality to help them adjust back to this league and Yates could be a big player for them. A solid season there would do wonders for his development.

The Byram links are strong so far this week. Hopefully we will get some news one way or another on him. Apparently Forest are the favourites over Leeds. Would enjoy getting one over them. They had a proper mardy with the Derby lot over losing out to them for that Dutch winger from Brentford!

Linked with a Spanish kid from Liverpool. Defensive midfielder. Not sure another midfielder is needed with Yates already looking like he will have to head off on loan.

There are actually that many new signings I can’t remember them all and their positions!

Linked with another forward. Ojo from Liverpool. Fee is mentioned to be around £10m. Seems like a lot to me but he was decent for Fulham on loan last season. Would definitely have to move the likes of Vellios and Clough on if Karanka did move for him.

posted on 26/7/18

Save that £10m for a rainy day Mr Marinakis. With what we have we are good to go, especially if Byram joins.

Come January we might want to make a big signing or two for a final push.

I would be inclined to think along the same lines. There are an awful lot of players to integrate as it is. My worry would be that they could sign too many and it could overwhelm the squad with numbers.

Ojo either available from the Scousers for between £10-15m or onbooan depending on who you believe.

Not heard of this Onbooan chap.........

Any good?

On a more serious note, I hope we aren’t even entertaining splurging that much on Ojo.

Get Byram sorted, keep Yates and see if anyone of real interest becomes available. If not, been a good window.

Having seen the paltry fine handed out to QPR for breaching, it should we say completely laughing at FFP, I don’t foresee many clubs being frugal in their spending any time soon.

posted on 28/7/18

Over the years I wish we'd have just gone for it, instead of partly going for it and still being punished by FFP.

With QPR pretty much getting away with it and Leicester still unpunished, it's a good as time as any to gamble.

Fester got something like a £5m fine, I think!

Maybe the best way to achieve financial fair play would be to have a handicap system so that clubs would have points deducted depending on the size of their wage bill.

The team with the biggest wage bill would start the season with minus twelve points, the team with the smallest wage bill would start the season on plus twelve points.

On a more realistic proposal I would like to see Central Contracts similar to the system used by American Football. The FA would take over all contracts and players would not be able to change clubs until the end of their contract. Clubs would take turns each summer to pick players who were out of contract.

Sorry for going off topic; I won't do it again.

Bamford having a medical at leeds, deal to be around £7m

Rumours are that Murphy's is Sheff Utd, which after yesterdays showing is only a good thing.

Nicko: SWANSEA. Close to a deal for Barrie Mckay at Forest. Buy.

There were rumours of us going for Ojo at liverpool, middleboro has now entered the game to replace traore
