He is finalising the deal this week apparently. He goes with my best wishes, was a great player when on his game. The amount of great and important goals he scored in the invincibles season will always be remembered. If you have the DVD you will realise how many he popped up with.

Shame last season he did not hit the heights and injury did not help. Hopefully the move will do him good and it will help Scotland's national team.

I reckon this will be used to bring in McGinn unless Brendan doesn't fancy him...

He has in spells ( particularly 2nd half of the invincible season) been good for us and we have been good for him. Got a nice profit as well The guy is not a Celtic supporter and has no great affiliation with us so easier for him to move away. I imagine this was part of his plan all along i.e. to play the English top flight! No issue with that and another we can point to when attracting good young talent to the club . I wish him well

brown was talking up McGinn last week

i think he could be an interesting signing, but i want us to get rid of a few midfielders first.

It's testament to how strong we are in that area that we don't see Armstrong as a great loss. N'tcham and McGregor are both better.

I think most Celtic fans liked Armstrong and will be a bit disappointed he has chosen to leave. but his decision and good luck to him. Thanks for the memories Stu and the £7 million spondoolicks.

Meanwhile, away in a darkened room in Renfrew... it jist not fair!! .

£1.5m purchase price.

Great profit. Like to see some investment in defence. Did anyone watch Brazil on friday? The bold gamboa had a great game

Boyata on his way to Lazio it looks like...

That’s 4 out and no replacements. Pistol doing a fine job sweeping in the cash and spending nothing

Armstrong had a pretty slow start to his Celtic career, and looked nothing more than a decent squad player for a while.

Then his form exploded and he set a new standard for what he was capable of, problem is he couldn't follow that up due to injuries and contract disputes and people like Ntcham, Rogic and McGregor pushed him down the pecking order.

He's capable of having a very good career in England, but I have my doubts about his mindset, all in all I think he was a good signing but it makes very good business sense to sell him at this time.

How does it look like he is away? Transfer window is still open for a while yet dont ye know

Never hid his ambitions, so no issues with him going. Don’t know how close to the £6-£7 million pound figure up front is true, but imagine it won’t be far off it. Good return for him and wish him well.

Oh wait-sorry. That’s not how we’re supposed to be reacting. Ehm-good riddance.

McGinn is honkin (should fit right in

But seriously, he lacks any real skill or quality. His only attribute appears to be to stick his erchie out to protect the ball. And that’s it. £5m for that

Sounds legit plus 20% of that £1m goes to DU

So 800k

Fair enough. We will have plenty scouts at the world cup with the swiss defender on the radar. Also heard we could be in for Hagi (son of the famous left fitter)
