He's came out and said that he is going to treat this cup as pre-season, and ridiculously called for allowance of 5 substitutions in the cup before only making a single change in the first game.
These really are your banter years mate.
I must admit, i worry for United, i can see them getting worse and going by the crowds of around 900 in attendance, are the fans going to be there to support the club when it's really needed, i.e. possible administration?
Our season ticket sales have been really poor and the people not buying were using Thompson as an excuse. Now that Thompson has gone, many of them are still in the "wait and see" camp and seem to be changing their tune that they won't buy because of Csaba and Mike Martin's (new chairman) links to the old regime.
The truth is most of them are losing interest because we're so pash.
Is admin likely? I've no idea, but the stay away fans aren't helping (and I know I'm not helping by not attending these games, but I do have my season ticket).
We need to get promoted. We need the chairman to make a big decision quickly if we start poorly.
I can see DU getting relegated tbh
Troubled times ahead for DU I’m afraid
More chance of a relegation battle than promotion challenge
Tbh can’t say that upsets me
Pity I like Dundee Utd. Scary times ahead Ivan.
Ivan, do you think you guys have enough to challenge for promotion?
For the past 2 years i look at that United team and honestly can't say it resembles anything remotely near good enough for you.
I miss Tannadice, please come back
Impressive crowd on Saturday too. See yeez finally got round to that Boycott Saturday 🧐
If Hamilton stay up again this year i may be forced to take matters into my own hands and drive that big red bus behind the goals, through the front doors.
I'd never use pre season as a time to judge a team
we've been rubbish in BR's 2 pre seasons n won a treble
under Mowbray we won the Wembley Cup
rightly or wrongly most players will see the league cup as pre season due to the timing of it etc
I wouldn't look too much into it, you'll still be challenging come May
off the park seems a bigger worry
I see our Bear friends are hoping for relegation. It amuses me how much we still bother them.
As for promotion...no idea. And I mean that, given the amount of signings we've made. I've not seen the team play so I can't say if there are signs that things might click together.
My concern is probably around creativity. I don't think our midfield has a great deal of it.
We'll be better when Fyvie is back.
Who do you have up front Ivan? or your attacking players even.
Nicky Clark is our main hope. He's scored goals at this level and I think, with decent service, he'll do well.
Beyond that we have Currans who didn't have a great scoring record with County, Keatings who I don't rate but others seem to for whatever reason, and Matty Smith who's a young lad and has been around the team for the last couple of years.
King, McMullan and Aird for the wide positions, Sam Stanton to play in the 10 position if we set up that way.
We need another creative player imo.
you'll no doubt end up with a few loans as the Premiership squads start to shape up

At the very least, you’ll have players with nice haircuts
Ghod
We could do with one or two.
I think we'll line up as follows if all are fit:
-----------Siegrist/Rakovan
Wardrup---Frans---Watson---Booth
Aird-----Fyvie----Stanton----King
------Clark-----Curran/Keatings
Rabitsch will deputise for Fyvie until he's fit I suspect.
Although Csaba seems to love Murdoch who is one of the most mediocre regulars I've ever seen play in tangerine.
How has young Sam Wardrop faired?

Ivan, is it actually possible for a team to be worse than Dundee were yesterday? United are worse than that?

I was just chatting to one of the Dees in the office about that very subject. Apparently you were at United levels of poor performance.
It's good to know we're both terrible.
Sad that you couldn't put in a performance as a tribute to Gilzean. I wouldn't have grudged you a good win yesterday for him. Sadly not to be.
NNH - as I say, not seen much of him and none of my mates have mentioned him as being either good or bad. I'll report back when I see him.

We were just waiting on the fans turning on the new signings and realising they were shiiiite. It took about 5 minutes to start booing them.
At least you gave them a chance.

I think I need a name change after seeing him play for the first time yesterday. Basically subbed himself off as he knew he was shiiite.
I believe big Moussa broke a couple of ribs too. Probably damaged them while throwing himself to the ground like a big Jessie.
I wonder if there is going to be any stand-out team in the league this season. We've had Hibs and St. Mirren run away with it the last couple of years but this year seems more difficult to call. It should obviously be United, based on club size and budget but I think we all know that'll never happen.
Hopefully it stays tight enough to give us a chance of fluking top spot.
