No one will want a rest, but I think we need to make 3/4 changes, not wholesale though.

I can see the subs bench all starting against Bolton ..... it's an opportunity to get match fitness in a competitive game i'd imagine.

That said, I can see the argument for not changing a winning side.

yeah would like to see Bamford, Baker and Harrison start buy agree wholesale changes prob not the best idea.

As we are playing to a system I want to see wholesale changes, how well can the others play to that system is what I am looking for, we NEED to rest our first 11 and not play them in Cup Matches IMO.

I am at the point to where we need to be giving our best in the league. Don't want a cup run & what it brings, I want promotion

Would like to see Blackman, Jansson, Baker, Bamford, Roberts and Harrison at least tonight.

Hopefully it’s a completely fresh 11, resting for Saturday.

Modern day football is all about the role of the squad rather than a fixed 11. Just shows how bloody good our team was under Revie.

I'd like to see Blackman get a run out along with Jansson, Baker and Bamford.

That’s a great point!

Bielsa said regarding the team for Bolton:

“Yes, we will have some changes. Some players who played today will play, the majority of players who played today will not play.”

So expect a reasonably untested team against Bolton.

Wholesale changes please, the first team will need as much rest as possible over the season

i would rest 2-3 players and play a few from the bench with some of those rested ready to come on if needed. Winning breeds confidence as much as wholesale changes can cause disruption. Dont forget how we fell apart after cup defeat last year because of too many changes and a low point defeat wrecking morale and causing Saizs suspension.Plus with an international break in a few weeks players will get some rest as for after the break i reckon a bit of squad rotation is needed but the seasons only begun so they should be all raring to go every game for now anyway.

Need to rest most of the midfield and forwards. Give Blackman a chance, definitely rest Pablo and Klich.

Let’s see how we cope with two games a week before we get carried away. It is not fitness that could be the problem more the related fatigue. It is well documented that Beilsa’s teams have a record of petering our at the end of the season - hopefully he has learnt from this.
I will start getting excited when we are top two in April.
Here’s to the ride!

With the stated 2 for most positions I don't buy the fatigue stuff.

Injuries are the biggest threat but surely that is relevant regardless of how you play.

The single most important thing is how the other squad players fit into the system and play, whether that is all together in a Cup Comp or Injury / Suspension replacements.

Aza makes a good point.I am pretty sure we will see a significantly changed team and will be interesting to see if the players involved play the same style and tactics and do it just as well.

Certainly hope so Rob

I think you are spot on regarding the system etc...

However, I am happy to be proved wrong with regards to fatigue. Playing at the pace and intensity we have seen in the last two games will be a tough ask, especially, as you say, we get the inevitable injuries (which are also more likely with fatigue).
Fingers crossed you are right!

For Bielsa's approach to work, he effectively needs two first teams playing alternate matches in the same manner.

His biggest headache is going to be that for the most part our team has clear divisions in quality between first choice and second choice players.

Not sure we can say that....., look at Phillips.....

I did say "for the most part"

For that rotating system to work you've got to hope and pray that injuries and suspensions don't play a major part, like last season.

Stupid, needless bookings like Bamford got, won't help our situation. If playing the intensive style we are, then players need to cut out the daft stuff - they'll all be needed through the course of the season.
