The thing I take from that is that there is no justification for the crazy prices. If clubs don't need the attendances to make profit why are some charging 85 quid a game? Just robbery

That's bayern approach. They literally spend 5mins arguing over £5m on player transfer fee and hardly blink, so ae no reason why they shouldn't forfeit £5m by ensuring match tickets are cheap.

It’s easy to say these things if you’re not trying to make income from it.

The creation of music for example and then everything else that leads to the recording process, then the task of promoting and selling your product, only to find out it’s getting ripped and passed around for zero makes it impossible to make money from.

I was speaking to a guy a couple of weeks ago at a gig and he used to be a photographer. Was for 25 years. He chucked it because he was just continually being ripped off. As soon as his work went online it was being stolen and he said it just got too much of a pain in the erse trying to find out how much he was getting ripped off, and who he should try to sue next.

The digital age is fine if you’re a consumer but if you’re a creator it can be very difficult to make a living in certain fields.

Way off topic but thought I’d try to give some perspective.

Yep. All that means you have to make sure that for say a band or photographer you have to have any portfolio of work as a promotional tool only and a loss leader and try to make your cash through gigs and other things like merchandise, plus try to be as inventive on low budget as possible.

At least though if you’re getting ripped off you’re doing something right!

I do feel sorry for the smaller companies like your friend that try and use the internet to reach the masses for profit
I personally have nothing against that and with the correct software he could have been protected to an extent

I thought it was a tad strange myself that he was getting ripped off through online theft cos if I planned on making any money from photography I’d watermark everything tae f@ck so it couldn’t be ripped off.

That was his story though and he seemed legit so seems fair enough. Music doesn’t really have any protection though.

It's just the way it is mate
The internet and all its tools were all developed and tested by people like me who had an interest in how things could work all done for free
Then these companies like Sky Netflix and so on use these protocols to rake the money in grrrrr
