Why delay what seems like an inevitability?

As I said on another thread, unless Zidane is genuinely our first choice we should just wait until the summer and get the candidate we actually want. Rushing into an appointment now would be the absolute worse thing we can do.

Wouldn't mind going down the caretaker route but don't know who out there would take it.

This should've been done at the end of last season. The majority of people could see this coming a mile away.

I think that’s the problem. No matter how much he improves results, the football just won’t meet the expectations of a fan base that have been spoilt over the decades.

He’s not a good fit for Manchester United.

Do't kid yourself about just Liverpool adn Spurs, what i saw of Chelsea yeserday, they are on the rise and playing some really good football - granted they looked frail at times in defence but at least they were really entertaining and the defensive frailties will no doubt be ironed out over the coming months. We're 3 seasons into this latest 'project' and still look rudderless and clueless

Ed should sack Jose and then remove himself from all future footballing decisions at the club

Tbh, this all started with Fergie's recommendation of Moyes.

It was actually comfortable for Brighton in the second half.

Thought that about Chelsea too... Take out the defence and he has them playing decent fast passing football in a matter of weeks.. Jose's been here for 2 years and we still don't have a style of play

Klopp implemented his, pep, poch, conte now Sarri... All pretty much straight away... We've nothing

Comfortable is an understatement. Our first shot came thirty minutes into the half from Pogba outside of the box. Our 2nd shift was the pen. It's just unfathomable to see a United team playing like that when two down.

the club dont want to sack him because he's a big name and because sacking him right now could mean missing out on top 4

we should finish top 4 even though we look abysmal right now, i think the board will do the right thing and sack him at the end of the aeason. they are already planning for it as the funds have dried up.

Really?

I think there are 4 teams in this league better than us.

Interesting how Leicester, you and Brighton are all next to each other in the league, ninth, tenth and eleventh. You're below the team you beat last week and above the team which beat you today, football can be strange but Jose's going. he never does stay long at a club anyway.

Pretty sure a lot of us kept telling ourselves that and we ended up 16th

I don't agree with that Shugs. I think we have a very clear style of play:

- Focus and discipline
- Careful decision making

With the ball:
- Keep possession at all costs in defensive and middle thirds
- Work the ball short when there are no attacking players in space
- Play lower risk passes in transition when there's no movement in front
- Conserve energy in defence and midfield

Without the ball:
- Control the counterattack through control of space
- Slow play up to allow attacking players to regroup to match up one-on-one
- Focus on shape rather than trying to regain possession

We don't have movement up front... And when the ball does go to our attack we often see our midfield falling back into shape to try and control the counter rather than supporting first

I don't agree with the keep possession at all costs either tbh... Under LVG it was our biggest problem... Under jose we're often under (well under) 50% possession... And up until this season have too often saw a couple of neat passes followed by a hoof

Even when Rashford came on and started making runs in behind from the right, it was a ball over the top we looked for rather than a thru ball.... And then after it almost came off... He feckin moves him to the left and changes shape again

We're a mess

The conserve energy and control of space with no pressure on the ball is true.. It's also the biggest pile of tactical shiiite in the modern game... And why games and performances like today are no surprise

I don't think what we are watching can be described as a style of play... We've no cohesion at all attacking wise and we're increasingly a mess defensively

Its shiiite

It is a style of play. It really is. It's actually part of the problem: we are very predictable.

The parts of the problem are that a) we aren't very good at executing the plan, and b) even if we were, it'd still look waaaaank.

And the reason that we have so little possession is that we don't attempt to win the ball back until it's in our box.

We'll just call it waaaaank then

Scousers have klopps geigen press, Chelsea have Sarri ball, City have peps tiki taka

And we have waaaaank... Without a happy ending

We have Jose's Percentageball.

It's a battle of wills and nerve with him.

He thinks that if you neutralise the game - slow it down, strip it of moments of unpredictability and leave as little to chance as possible - then the superiority of your players will usually win out.

And he's usually right. Just not often enough to warrant the visual debacle that ensues.
