I'd forgotten about him. 22 now and he's hardly set tge heather on fire in Portugal.

Could be a decent signing but more likely meh.

Jesus, bit young to be giving up on your career.

C'mon Hobo, it's not as if he's going back Tannadice, now is it.

That's giving up on life, not just your career.

That's who he is was thinking where did I hear that name before!

He must have learned something since he has been in Portugal, plus he is 22 now ffs

I don't know what the problem is with him and Sporting. He's played well at the clubs he's been loaned to but never seems to make the grade which is weird cos Sporting are poor .

Saw him once guests back

He looked very promising

Worth a look I guess

He started to break into the first team, even getting MotM in a cup game. Played a few in the league, scored and assisted a few goals then in typical promising Scottish youngster fashion, he got an injury that kept him out for a few games. Sporting then sacked the manager who brought him in and that was pretty much the end of his first team career.

Next season he went on Vitória de Setúbal, where again he broke into the first team playing well. Then Vitória played Sporting in a cup game, where Gauld played and beat his parent team. Sporting being of the "always cheated, never defeated" mindset threw a hissy fit, claimed Vitória and the ref cheated, so picked up their Gauld and went home - recalling both players they had on loan to Vitória, stunting their growth as footballers in an act of petty revenge.
The following year in an amusing act of karma, Sporting again lost in the cup to the team Gauld was on loan to, this time in the final (although Gauld didn't play).

So Gauld himself hasn't done much wrong, just been the victim of injury and some pathetic management at Sporting.

Never overly rated him when he was at Dundee United and lauded as a wonderkid and no idea what he’s like now . Bit of an odd one

I think Gerrard dismissed this and the Nathan Dyer one yesterday according to the papers this morning.

Jamie Walker on loan is gathering pace.

He is a winger? Wouldnt have compared him to Modric........

Jamie Walker would be a poor signing for Rangers in my opinion.

McAuley is a decent back up even at 38 years of age.

I wouldn't have minded him for us.

Gauld was never a winger.

Started as a 10 for us, converted to an 8 in Portugal.

It would be difficult to see him playing for Rangers, and I don't see him wanting to come back to Scotland (although not sure what offers he might have as alternatives).

I see.

Seen that there

Hadn’t even heard the dyer one, that woulda been a good signing.

Walker hhhhmmmm I think I’d rather stick with what we’ve got.

As for mcauley, not for me. Davie weir was a one off and I’d rather we stopped trying to mirror it by signing past it old defenders.

Walker and Macauley are underwhelming in the extreme.

A winger that can't get into a Wigan side and a geriatric centre half are not what we require

Who else can slot in at CB for Rangers, is there literally no one? McCrorie maybe?

posted on 27/8/18

Both Flanagan and Barisic have played at CB apparently.

Agreed

Yeah Mcrorie is about the only other one who can or should be playing there tho with Gerard’s comments on him being a centre mid rather than a centre back it will make it hard for him to play ross at centre back.

Should try Wallace there. It’s not as if he will be left back to often ahead of Barisic
