Note* No option for Cups so I've put the Championship!

I remember the Newcastle manager, Kevin Keegan, coming in against Forest in Pearce’s testimonial and scoring a penalty. Forest won 6-5 so something similar would be lovely!

The loan move of Brereton to Blackburn does seem to be gathering pace by the sounds of it. Just hope the £6m deal part of it doesn’t happen in January.

Agree that Steele deserves a go to see what he can do over 90 mins. Pantilimon hasn’t filled me with confidence with some of his keeping. Seems a little routed to the spot for a big bloke at times.

List of targets should Brereton leave include Defoe, Abraham, Gestede and Oliveira, allegedly. I would rather keep Brereton really. On the flip side, if one of them came in and scored 15-20 goals and got Forest in the top six then maybe Karanka sees it as a gamble worth taking.

I would say no to Defoe. He has only scored a handful at Bournemouth and is on £60k a week.

Gestede has floated about at a few teams since leaving Blackburn and hasn’t really set anywhere alight since.

Not really convinced Oliveira is all that, especially at the price Norwich would be asking.

Abraham has decent prefigure but report asay he wants to try and force his way into the first team squad at Chelsea. Can’t blame him, the lad clearly doesn’t want to become a nomadic striker like Bamford.

And decent pedigree.

I think we should treat this like a league game. Rather than chopping and changing, give first team players chance to player together and work on this system.

It’s all good saying the team needs to gel but we won’t gain any cohesion if we systematically change half the team each game. Maybe drop the Murphy and Watson’s but any more than 3 changes and we’ll probably see a repeat of the bury performance.

Saying that, I think we’ll go to penalties again.

I think Watson must be in jeopardy. Colback wasn’t much better. Both seemed to feel it was beneath themselves to do the dirty work required in the engine room of midfield. Watson caused the first goal and Colback’s lame attempt at a tackle allowed the second goal. Not entirely there fault but major contributors.

Got tickets sorted today. Had to plump for the Upper Brian Clough this time. Looking forward to a proper cup tie.

Should imagine the Geordies will sell their allocation so should be another great crowd at the CG.

Regarding possible replacements should Brereton depart, Defoe is way past the 30 y.o mark so ticks all the boxes for AK, and Gestede if he came wouldn't get the type of service he needs so that makes him a strong contender.

There is. Go to 'choose a competition', scroll down to 'other' and then type in Carabao Cup.

Gestede doesn’t strike me as a one up front type of striker. Might be wrong.

Defoe would be like when they signed Ian Wright. Was ok for a few games but soon departed.

Gestede = one trick pony.

Works well against us, fails miserably for us

Look at the bloke who manages Millwall. He is still I believe their all time record goal scorer; drew a blank for us, in what a season and a half?
