I think often fans have the attitude that the Europa League hinders league form but the Champions League somehow doesn't.

Yes there is an extra round in the Europa League so two more games but if anything it is harder to be in the Champions League given that you generally have to put your strongest team out and there are no easy games where you can put out a second string.

Urban myth because in the past Europa teams (Newcastle for example) had squads with little depth/quality. Arsenal and Chelsea shouldn't have any problems juggling.

Hmm... Interesting question. Not sure whether Dortmund dropped out of their CL group, when they dumped Spurs out off the EL competition about five years ago. Spurs got knocked out by Gent the following year, but I don’t think Gent qualified for the CL that year, think they came through the EL group stages

Spurs definitely hadn’t the best of times competing in Europa League. So, they’ll probably tell you that EL competition was an hindrance to their league title challenge and FA Cup campaign or at least this competition was preventing them from putting the pressure on the league leaders.

Can’t believe it took someone so long raging about this article ....

I've just seen the Europa groups and thank God we qualify for the cl these days. I know many on here regard winning a domestic cup as better than finishing in the top 4 but when you look at the calibre of our opponents compared to Chelseas its obvious which is more important to me.

Play weak line up as the opposition are shiiit. Then stronger line ups in knockout games

It annoyed me whenever any CL side dropped down into it regardless of how they performed, and I think it’s a daft rule. Failure shouldn’t be rewarded.
