Was there not also a game called off at Ibrox that season due to a waterlogged pitch? Don’t think that helped.

Anyway-the important fact is that the season was extended solely for the benefit of one club.

Let’s be brutally honest here.

I’d imagine on our wee world of Scottish football there wouldn’t have been many dry eyes around chairmen’s offices in every football club north of the border with Rangers not being given extra time.

Maybe that’s petty but it’s rivalry. And to many clubs the idea of picking up points against either of the OF when they were struggling with fixtures could mean a lot of money to them.

Pfft! Common sense and logic.

I doubt anyone can argue against that.

Let’s wait and see though, eh?

I honestly couldn't care less. It was 10 years ago, no point greeting about it now.

I would want a Rangers chairman to do the same for Celtic. Anything to get it up yees.

1. Rangers had to play their last 6 games includingthe European final in 14 days.

Let’s break that down, until the uefa final, Rangers had 3 days between games, something that’s a regular occurrence in football. Rangers were still playing every 3 days until they had their game against St Mirren which was played 2 days after they played Motherwell. This in turn was 3 days before their final game against Aberdeen.

2. Rangers were granted special dispention to cancel their game against Gretna to prepare for their CL tie against Lyon.

That’s right, Rangers were actually given a week off by the SFA to allow them to prepare for a CL tie. Gretna were the opponents in said league game, flooking Gretna

3. The season was extended.

Oh yes indeedy, due to Rangers inability to take care of Gretna before a CL tie and subsequent replay matches (2) in the Scottish cup taking over their free midweeks where games could be played, the SFA decided to extend the SPL season by 4 days to allow Rangers to play their last 2 games. This of course was before the Scottish cup final due at the end of that week.

4. Celtic’s season in 2002/2003 was NOT extended.

Yip, there are a few who seem under the impression Celtic got an extension in that season to allow us time to prepare before and after the UEFA cup final. In fact, at one point in May, Celtic had to play 3 games in 7 days.

5. This is more of a quote than a fact, but it’s one that’s relevant:

“I don't know what they're complaining about, they should just get on with it, I wish we were in their position," Alex McLeish, 2003.

And a good morning to all of you gents

--------------------------

And that's all pretty irrelevant.
Think the headline was the fact someone asked for no help to be given, and how that's a bit sad.

I think we all know if the shoe was on the other foot the very same would have occurred.

Why would i want my rivals to win a European trophy then have an extra few days off to win the title as well

Pile of schite, I don't believe a word that comes out of the 'Corridors of Power', they lie all the time, have no transparency and act like some kind of clandestine organisation. More fool anyone who gives this a second thought.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lex...my thoughts exactly.

Complete hypocrisy from some on here. Spend years criticising the SFA....then desperately parade a statement by the ex-president because it might suit their warped purposes.

I don't trust George Peat on anything. And if it did happen, name names or shut up.

You have to wonder what the agenda is here.

Probably the bears are so excited by stevie G that they think they are getting to the final again and are paving the way for the season to be extended already.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why wouldn't anyone?

Jealousy? Bitterness? self interest?

All things that drag the game backwards!

I would expect nothing less in Scotland mind
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing less in Scotland

Sit down ya wet wipe.

Do you actually think teams in other countries want their rivals to win and give them unprecedented advantages both home and abroad?
