Great performance from UFC Chimaev. He's always had question marks over his durability and to dominate DDP in 5 rounds was pretty impressive.

Dominant performance but the question marks still remain about his cardio. He barely got out of 2nd gear against DDP.

Don't underestimate Sonnen. Remains to be seen if Topuria can't be kept down, especially vs Islam.

That Sonnen fight was a draw, the other one a 2nd round KO for Silva.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Brunson took Silva down too.

As good as Silva was, he had flaws and that was the wrestling. When he came up against top wrestlers, they could take him down. Sonnen, Brunson and Weidman.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The way you make this argument it's like Topuria has never been taken down. Jon Jones got taken down 3 times his whole career and never got knocked down or knocked out. Remains to be seen how long Topuria lasts before the inevitable happens.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm simply trying to show the glaring weakness in Silva's game, a weakness that doesn't exist in Topurias game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If it was so glaring then why wasn't it ever exploited by fighter after fighter? We've seen many Topurias and I'm sure we will see more, but fighters like Bones and the Spider are truly generational.

Anyway, what a performance from Chimaev. Du Plessis got his ass whooped real good there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nobody was able to take him down because his striking was so good. We've seen this from other elite strikes. Mcgregors wrestling was a glaring weakness but fighters couldn't get to it, because of his striking.

But eventually even Conor was taken down and submitted. I expect the same to happen to Topuria when his UFC story arc comes to an end as happens every time.

It seems to me only the few greats remain throughout all their career, all other have a few months or a few years at the top.

Only a few months ago you were hailing Volkanovski as the P4P UFC champ. He had never been knocked out. Where is he now? Sleeping with the fishes.

The card in general was really good, shame the main event was a laughing stock. Massively highlights so much that is wrong in the UFC. Great finishes in the co main and other fights where the guys came to fight, some epic performances.

Volk WAS p4p number one. He's arguably the greatest FW of all time. He made the mistake of going up a weight class and taking a fight on short notice. It happens. He's the champion again though.

Topuria will decline eventually but as of now, he's dam near unbeatable with no holes in his game.

A very solid card but I agree, the main event was lucklustre. I suspect Khamzat played it safe and wanted the title in the bag. He was barely tested.
