Audiobooks are well expensive. How much money do you make out of it if you don't mind me asking.
I get 20% of the book’s price.
So as an example, if an audiobook sells for £10, I’d get £2 for every copy that book sells minus tax.
It’s kind of a carrot and stick deal. The carrot being if a book does really well, I’d get hundreds, maybe thousands out of it. The stick being if it doesn’t, then I’ve essentially put in weeks or months of work for peanuts.
Just looked at the third link and it took you 8 hours and 24 minutes to finish I did listen to the sample and you've got a good reading voice and it is easy to understand you so all I can say is good luck.
TallAndUseless, interesting post - if you don't mind me asking, how do you become a narrator with them ?
As I am retired and fluent in French, and have time on my hand, I thought maybe I could use this time to make some cash ? You have a good voice by the way.
Starting reading audio books, last few months.
More about the rise of the reich and world war 2 things.
But you’ve a good voice for Audio
Thanks for the feedback guys.
Ellando, I work through a website called ACX (Audiobook Creation Exchange). If you wanna join, you just need to set up an account.
www.acx.com
You’ll need to submit some tax info (just your NI number) and a bank account number so they can pay you for any work you do.
Hope it is safe to give my bank ac/no...Thanks for that, I'll have a look.
how does it work with the credit system they have?
do you get the cost of a credit or the cost of the book itself
I love audiobooks and podcasts, listen to them all the time
Great work Tall and always interesting to hear more about what people do outside football.
That's a very interesting sideline - I hope it works out well for you and I agree, it's easy listening.
A friend of mine has literally just converted one of her books into audio so I have a little understanding of the work involved.
Great stuff! If she gets famous I’ll send her your way
Thanks Stoopo. There’s a part of me hoping that I can make enough from it that I can quit my job and do this kind of work full time.
Kebablegs, I’m 30.
Just out of interest - do you need much in the way of audio equipment?
