McCoist is one of your lot (and there are damned few) that you had to actually doff your cap and admit was a fantastic footballer and certainly right up there among the greatest in Scotland.

Very underrated player and as far as I saw never put a foot wrong.

Papac was loved by us for that very reason. He was a 7/10 every single game regardless who he was up against. He even played well against Messi and Henry.

You often wonder how players like that can go under the radar both before the join us and during their time at the clubs.

Been quite a few like that over the years. How Lubo never played for a top club in a top league is beyond me. He was twice the player of the Di Canios of this world

I agree with that 100%. I always thought di Canio was a very good player but I never thought he produced enough while he was at Celtic. I thought he was capable of better, especially with his final ball.

Nakamura and Lubo were far more effective IMO.

Over 16 seasons and minimum 4 games a season and Celtic at their weakest.

Larsson with 15 in 7 seasons.

as for mccoist i think he regularly scored against celtic throughout the 80's so i think to say he only scored against a weaker celtic is not right as celtic were often better than rangers from 83-88

he probally got about 30 goals against all scottish teams in that 15 years

Ally McCoist was a great striker. Certainly the best of his generation and I don’t think we’ve had one as good as him since. He should be remembered as a rangers legend, for his playing days anyway.

But he was never world class. Not even close.
