"no way would Jose tell a player of his qualities not to attack"

this comment is hilarious

Souness is such an idiot when it comes to Pogba.

Pogba's post match interview makes a mockery of those comments. He said straight out that he prefers to attack not defend and that he doesn't have good defensive attributes. He also said he likes it with Matic and Herrera behind him as it gives him freedom to do what he wants as he knows he has security.

But that goes to show what a complete mercenary caaant he is because correct me if I am wrong didn’t Jośe play Pogba in front of Matic and Herrera?

The aforementioned DMs are so underrated because your CBs are gash. They have been since Rio and Vidic left. And we couldn’t score today

All Souness has to do is watch a couple of our games under Jose, and a couple under Ole and he will see Pogba's starting and average position has changed drastically.

The worrying thing is, he probably has watched all of our games this season and still can't see the change.

If you look at the touch maps pre Ole and after for Pogba the freedom he gets now is obvious. He's a great skill set. No one minds doing a job for a game or two but after a while you don't play your best footy if you're not happy and that's at any level rightly or wrongly.

You are wrong. Jose didn't usually play Herrera. When he did he sometimes played him ahead of Pogba or alongside him. Sometimes he even played him in defence.

You're right. The wind carried the ball perfectly onto Rashford's feet for his goal

If you ignore all the things he did, including a great pass for the goal, then yes, he was anonymous. Sigh.

I don't think position is the issue. There's no way Pogba can't play in midfield with his qualities. No way. He's strong, tall, can tackle, pass etc. I think what's driving him on now is the will to prove Jose wrong and to show he was holding him back, which he was of course as he had less freedom.

He can play as a box to box cm, but he just doesn't want to. He doesn't want to track runners most of the time and he switches off sometimes. This was obvious within a matter of weeks after he signed. Yet Jose kept asking him to defend.

Then he has an attitude problem. The problem is Jose wanted to fix it but didn't have the wins and the backing to afford him the time to do it.

Pogba should be playing where he is now. None of this rubbish Jose was doing. It’s not an attitude problem. Pogba wants to take risks and make things happen, he can’t do that if he’s thinking all day about his defensive responsibility
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He obviously does if he was asked to play in midfield but didn't want to and therefore didn't perform. Milner spent a season at left back ffs. Do you think he wanted to play there? His attitude is a good one.

He had 2.5 years to change it TOOR and failed. Before this season he had won us 2 trophies and he finished 2nd last season. He had the backing of the board and the results prior to this season to whip Pogba into shape and he couldn't.

To be honest, I am not sure why he kept on trying to make him play more defensively. Most United fans could see that the way to get the best out of him and the team was to have a front 3 of Martial, Rashford and Jesse, with Pogba in behind them and to reduce his defensive responsibility. It is no surprise that we have seen big improvements as soon as that front 4 was used. One of Jose's main problems was square pegs in round holes.

Milner is great professional TOOR and I have a lot of respect for him as a player, but there is no comparison between the two players.

Milner has made the most of average to good ability through sheer hard work and commitment. Pogba is on a different level in terms of natural ability. Milner has no personality. Pogba is a extrovert. You can't just expect all players to be the same, have the same outlook on the game and be happy with their lot.

Can you image Ronaldo being happy with being played in a defensive role? Or Ronaldinho? And why would you want to even think about doing that anyway?

I don't. However I imagine Ronaldo at Pogba's age would have knuckled down and followed his manager's instructions and tried to be the best in that position. You don't always get to play the position you like, at all times, it's about the team, not yourself. Pogba obviously doesn't understand this.
