With 2 weak full backs we were always going to be horribly exposed at the back, I would have gone for 3 at the back and drop winks or Sissoko for Eriksen dropping deeper. Utd showed no great skill in breaking us down unless on the break so could easily of overrun them in the centre
100%.... Thought it was a bl00dy good game.... Credit where its due to DDG. Nothing to be critical about re Spurs...... The next few weeks will define our season.... The 2 away games in both Cups are gonna be tough, injuries don't look great and signings seem unlikely.. Once again Poch is gonna have to ask his guys to run through walls for him..... Levy needs to be very careful..... If this carries on we are gonna start damaging our assets !!!!
good game from a neutral perspective
I thought utd had the better of it in the first but not by much however you absolutely battered them in the second half and should have really scored 5-6 goals
Do you thnink the sheer volume of games is a factor in all these injuruies? Or just unlucky, like Kane was injured by that donkey tackling him so fatigue not the problem here, but then Sissoko pulls his hamstring so that could be due to playing so many games.

Bit of both..... Our spine.... Hugo, Toby, Jan, Dier, Rose, Dele, Dembele, Erikson, Kane and Son have played a lot of football over the past 2 years. All have had spells out and tend to get rushed back after injuries as the back ups aren't as good (when fit). It was poor management from Poch yesterday.. there was no need whatsoever to start Jan ahead of Sanchez after 6 weeks out... would it have changed the result.. probably not but it probably didn't help Jan chasing Rashford around all afternoon

In some cases, yes. Sisokko has played a lot but Dier & Wanyama have been out so he's had to.
Dier is appendicitis so thats just random and Wanyama has dodgy knees (we need a replacement asap and especially as Dembele might go too).
Eriksen & Son started the season slowly but had a very busy summer and needed more rest & are now bang in form.
I'd say Vertonghen has been due to his age, the fact he played all last season and went far into the WC, with little rest.
Disagree with Diamond - the likes of Alli, Eriksen and Dier coming back from injuries earlier in the season, and Son after his Asian Cup stuff, were all introduced slowly, starting games on the bench, not just straight back in.
Vertonhgen yesterday did fine, the issue was their split strikers sitting wide in behind our advanced full backs. Vertonghen was exposed by the tactics, but his return from injury made no difference IMO.
You deserved a point yesterday to be fair. We could've scored 2-3 more also though.
You lot know all about being carried by one man. Seems to be fine when Kane drags you over the line. DDG just as important for us.
It could have been any score really. We had.good chances to get more too not that many Spurs fans seem to recall. Lloris made 7 saves after all.
Not really we are not a 1 man team. Kane is extremely important, but we have players all over the pitch that score including Son. Having a goal keeper that saved your a** on a regular basis is a lot different than Harry Kane scoring winning goals. If it weren’t for De Gea, you would be extremely average and I think you know it.
The fact that De Gea gets player of the season for you on a regular basis is proof in the pudding. Teams outplay you quiet a lot of the time, but you have an almost robo cop like goal keeper that seems to be impossible to score against.

Baseless post considering our record without Kane is excellent. The problem is that Son, who has been our main cover for Kane when he's injured, is also out.
Over the last 2/3 years a case could be made for many of our players being the integral point at some time or other; Kane, Dembele, Verts, Eriksen etc
Same could be said for many teams of you take out their star man. Take out Kane and while you're still pretty good, you're not as good with him. Same goes for De Gea. And the excuse of injuries do not cut it. Under LVG and Jose first season we did have a lot of injuries. Uder LVG we used a lot of youth players due to injuries, at some point Carrick dropping in there. Yet no one made excuses for us dropping points due to that. The fact that we only have two CBs available is not going to be used when we lose.
I never quite the bit where players have played a lot. It is the football season, and players are expected to play in games. I thought that was the idea, or have I got that wrong?
"Although United had a few chances, in the first half especially, we created probably half a dozen clear cut chances and should have never lost and probably won, on the balance of the chances created"
--------------------------------------------------------------
interesting view, United had 4 clear cut chances in first half and shouldve scored 3 of them. Spurs didnt hit target
-----------------------------------------------
"In the second half we closed off the routes that United used in the first half, without going super defensive, and they were not the same threat."
second half Pogba shouldve scored 2 of his chances if not all 3 although you have to credit Lloris with keeping out the 3rd, long before Utd retreated and Spurs barrage took place.
In reality Utd shouldve been 4 up before DDG was even called into action.

Spurs should have won at a canter, United only had one other decent chance each half. I don`t get the bit a lot are saying where they bossed the first half, they didn`t, other than the goal, they were hardly a threat. I never at any point thought United would score yesterday, and it came as a shock when they did.

hardly.
lingard and martial should both of scored long before you even hit the target.
pogba 5 yards out free header shouldve scored.
all that happened before your barrage.
even after you started threatening, pogba wouldve scored but for a desperate deflection from trippier and Lloris produced save of the game to tip pogbas chip out.
majority of DDG saves were routine.
DDG saves were routine (for him) but saying that makes it sound like the chances were half chances. We had about 8 or 9 excellent chances but our finishing was terrible.
If you're going on the basis that all or most your good chances should have been taken then the same can apply to us, in which case the game would have finished about 6-3 to us.

thats one way of looking at it.
but if we follow your logic then we'd of been so far ahead you wouldnt of been throwing the sink at us because it wouldve been game over.
For me the only real negative is the injuries to Kane and Sissoko. Without Son and any real CM options I think we will struggle against Chelsea next week.
There was a reason why DDG was Man of The Match!
And if you class a 20 yard shot from Pogba as "should have scored" then Winks and Eriksen should have scored too.

that sitter from 20 yards was a joke tbf.
Honestly the Untied fans trying to make out like they bossed a game, they hardly had a foothold in. They barely had a chance all game, and they are making out they should have been 4-0 up.
4 nil is a bit of hyperbole. We had multiple of good chances, especially that one where Pogba followed the ball into box and Lloris somehow got a hand to that chip.
Yesterday's game is basically a game of inches. Could've been nil nil if Lloris had better positioning. 2-0 us if Lloris didn't make the save on the chip, 1-1 y'all if de Gea didn't save one of the shot, 3-1 y'all if you were more clinical in front of goal. Really could've gone either way and to us, that's an improvement over the Jose bus parking style.
