So the idea Everton as a team, or their supporters, won't be up for getting a result against city, is quite frankly ridiculous.

Silva will no doubt be desperate for a result. As for the players and fans, I’d say a lot hinges on how on board they are with the manager. If the players can’t be ar*ed one way or other, then it’ll be hard to get them up for the game.
Sure, there’s always the prestige such wins bring, and a lot of footballers might try to raise their game for that reason, but it takes a concerted team effort to beat the top sides in the league.
