View, I am very glad that you are a reader of the Guardian - an excellent newspaper with a long and very proud history. As the then Manchester Guardian, it was my school's official newspaper. It stood on a lectern in the hall next to a statue of Sir Walter Scott. As a working class boy, accustomed to the Daily Mirror, I found it a delight. ( And there is nothing wrong with the Mirror) - I would read and admire Cassandra most days in the Mirror.

My neighbours (a couple) are both journalists, one for the Mirror and the other The Times! I bet their breakfast conversations are interesting?
