Aye I did have a chuckle at that result given Ramos done that. That’s twice he’s been caught doing it, probably done it loads of other times.

That said, can’t stand Ajax, want them leathered on and off the park every game.

Season isn't over. A Champions League berth looks nailed on as it stands (8-point gap), but the defeats are piling up. Last night's will not just leave scars in and of itself, but was also the 4th on the trot at home. Add the fact that Solari's fallen out with a lot of the dressing room and there's no obvious immediate replacement, so things could still get worse before they get better.

Ramos may have been absent last night, but he really needs to rally his team mates now and get them all pulling together to make sure the disaster doesn't get bigger than it already is.

As for replacing Ronaldo, the feeling that this was meant to be a transitional year was there from the get-go. Lopetegui came across as a fall guy from the moment he was appointed (another sh*tshow in and of itself), and I don't think anyone at the club could have seriously thought a Ronaldo-sized hole wasn't going to matter.

I don't think anyone ever expected the fall to be this big though. Anyone who seriously expected this side to dominate in Europe again after the collapse in the league last season and the remarkable luck involved in winning the CL last season was seriously deluded, but the recent run of results will probably have Pérez scraping every last penny together to go on a speding spree to try to straighten the ship asap. Personally, I'd be more than happy to have a second year of transition while a strong, young team is built, but that looks very doubtful now.

‘Got what he deserved the odious cvnt.‘
======

If that were true...

He would have broken both his legs whilst missing the last penalty so his team loose - in every finals match he’s been involved in.

But apart from that, I wholeheartedly agree with your article.

Players do it all over the world. The difference was that Ramos got caught out admitting it.

Ramos playing last night would only have masked the massive rebuild needed at Madrid. The fans like to criticise the top players when they don't perform to the levels they have done (Ronaldo even got it off them). The level of expectation is unreal. However when it comes to young homegrown players coming through they think that they players are the answer. Ascensio, Nacho, Isco etc - all good players but not good enough to take over the team places and stay at the top of the game.

Modric, Kroos, Ramos, Bale, Marcelo cannot be expected to carry the team for 6 full seasons

I like every player in that list but it is time for a new generation of Galcticos to come in under a new manager.

Don't be surprised to see Pochettino there next season. He has all but admitted he will never be backed at Spurs to seriously challenge for the league. At Real it isn't unrealistic to think he could have a forward line for Neymar, Kane and Viniciius

Ramos is a fud. He's not even a good defender, just a dirty bassa. Any time a ref actually enforces the rules he is pash.

Even the last 2 CL's Ronaldo was pretty much carrying them. Anyone's got a chance of winning a knockout competition with him in the team.

The league is where true, consistent quality shows and Barcelona have wiped the floor with them for the majority of the last 10 years.

The forced booking thing was a tactic Spanish clubs started using years ago, both domestically and in Europe.

UEFA outlawed it years ago though. I think Xabi Alonso was one of the first players to get an extra game’s ban for it.

The fact Ramps decided to boast publicly about it despite the fact it‘s been punished for years just goes to show just how bright a spark he is.

Decision time for Poch methinks.

Last night's result in Dortmund can only increase his chances of getting the gig. Can only be a couple of clubs he would consider if he leaves Spurs.

Call, good post. Spot on about the ridiculous level of expectation, the overhyping of the youngsters and the generation that needs replacing.

I do think a number of our youngsters and homegrown lads can be useful, but not in a dysfunctional team that people delusionally think should be fighting for a quintuple, and they’d definitely need other established players to lead the side on the pitch.

I also think Poch would be the right man to lead us right now, but his strength has traditionally been in spotting useful youngsters and building hard-working teams that are all about the group rather than the individual.

Problem is, I don’t have the slightest confidence in Madrid having the patience Pochettino might require for the rebuilding job that needs doing ... even in the event of him deciding to leave Spurs

Never mind Real Madrid.

Ajax, wonderful stuff. Played Real off the park and 4-1 was going easy on them.

Some talent coming through there. The two boys in central midfield Van de Wieg and De Jong were fantastic.

Great that the CL has been freshened up this season with Ajax & Spurs in the QF's and the usual suspects out on their ar$es

De ligt at the back as well

I don’t get all the hate for Ramos. Worlds best defender by a distance for me.

Sure he’s a dirty Kant but most top defenders are. Loves a bit of schithousery but I like him even more for that.

Sone result for Ajax. I read they only pay around 28m annually in wages. Puts us Scottish clubs to shame with ours reported at 30 million roughly and Celtics around double that.

Ajax's squad will be pillaged in the summer, De Jong has already I think agreed to go to Barca and De Ligt will be off most likely as well, ffs Tadic, a pretty bog standard premiership player last year looked like a worldly last night

They will make a good few quid out of them though

Tadic ran a savvy last night.

Watched the first half of the Dortmund Spurs game too, Spurs are very fortunate as the tie could have easily been level at HT.

Wonderful finish from Kane though.

Expect PSG to comfortably take care of Man United tonight.

Thought Dortmund were a certainty for the old coupon last night

Been on them most of season domestically .

What about the midfielders man u have brought with them?

Veratti with 50 CL appearances has more than all united's put together

How good are Ajax ?

Brilliant team ...their pressing in the first game was unreal .. still no idea how they lost that game

Tadic was brilliant last night , some of his touches were delicious ....I can't believe Southampton have let him move on for £10M or something

Brilliant result and totally deserved

Utter nonsense. Not liking a player does not make him a poor player. You don't play for Real Madrid for a number of years, captain the team to multiple Champions League titles, win La Liga etc if you are not a good defender

Spot on. He’s a coont but that’s why he’s a serial winner. Ruthless will to win.

One of the best defenders of all time imo. He’d certainly be a pick of mine
