Another one I had forgotten is Life Is Beautiful. A 9/10 film for me.
Have to agree about Dunkirk (new version)
What an absolute load of rubbish
Great Escape and Saving Private Ryan
Also , I watched ‘The Sullivans’ as a kid although for years I thought I dreamt that.
As for Deer Hunter, other than one amazing scene with some of the best acting ever, the rest of the film was a real struggle, the first hour (wedding) felt like 10 hours.

The beach battle in Saving Private Ryan is magnificent but as an overall watch Downfall and Schindlers list are my best two. Fiennes performance as Amon Goeth is off the scale.
Inglorious Bsterds deserves a mention it may be a load of nonsense but its total entertainment and Waltz steals the show.
Most overated was Dunkirk it was ok but after all the hype I thought it was going to be alot better than that.

Dunkirk was ok. Very overrated.
Lots of really stupid moments. The pilot who ran out of fuel sonehown being able to chase and shoot down a German plane was very daft..
Obviously They Shall Not Grow Old wasn't a movie as such but it was haunting. Seeing the blokes in colour made them look so much younger and the contrast between how the war was sold to those signing up and the horrors they found when they got there was brilliantly exposed.
They Shall Not Grow Old was outstanding, the last quote before the credits done me.
Watched Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War again the other night.
Excellent film.
all the obvious ones have already been mentioned With Full Metal jacket my personal favourite.
One that hasnt been mentioned however is Hamburger Hill, awsome film, brutal..
We were soldiers was also pretty decent and hasnt been mentioned

Hamburger Hill has been mentioned
Casualties of War is another good film.
Letters from Iwo Jima and flags of our fathers are decent. Letters probably edges it for me.
Two of the few Clint Eastwood films that don't suffer from his patented "USA is the best" that he loves to cram into them. Probably why they're a lot better than the likes of American sniper.

Brilliant film
There was a war movie from the late 90s with the original ‘Matt’ from ‘Game On’
Forgot the name of the movie
It had millions of actors in it, but all were in it too little.
That’s it, was ok but not as good as others
