Can bury a Big Mac though
I’ve been his harshest critic, but he’s been one of our best players this season.
True, going forward he’s nowhere near the best fullbacks, but he’s a decent defender.
Yes, we could do much better but it’s not a priority position problem for us

Just the other 10 positions to sort before.
I always said he was mediocre
he is not great at anything but unlike g.nev he is also not mr dependable
watching shaw is like watching a glitchy video game character that reacts late too most things. And i don't think I have seen a more flat footed fullback

I agree despite my honest but harsh comment above, he is not our biggest proble. It is just a day like today reminds me he is still a poor player
He’s not the biggest issue we have right now, but his lack of intensity and refusal to use his best assets: pace and power, going forward does cause us issues.
As well as not being a very good crosser of the ball, he plays way too many hopeful passes into bad areas.
Long term we need better, but he’ll do for now. I actually think he’d make a very good LCB in a three man defence.
I wish we’d gone for Andy Robertson instead at the time, a 3rd of the price snd Miles better.
If there is a player as stupid as Xhaka, I am yet to see one.
That Wenger spent £35 million on this clown is a travesty.
His best asset is his weight.
Overreact much?
We’ve conceded 52 goals this season in the league. He has been the first name down in that defence, of course he’ll be at fault for some of those goals. Today was a howler but I can’t think of any others off top of my head where a goal this season was directly attributable to a mistake by him.
He has been our player of the year. We finished the match with Young at CB and with two players who are leaving on frees. Last position in the squad that needs looking at.
There are 9 worse players in our starting XI than Shaw. Focus your energy on them.

The difference in the two players' projection is nuts. Shaw was a hugely talented young player at Southampton but seems to have went to United and simply not put the effort in. Whereas Robertson worked his ass off through the divisions and hasn't stopped working.

Just shows you hard work always beats talent.
Robertson clearly is a more talented attacker than Shaw, which isn’t to detract from his hard work.
I find the comparison strange. Liverpool simply brought a better player.

I'd say at the time both were bought, Shaw was by far the higher rated.

??? Assume that’s a wum? Roberson was always more talented than shaw.. and he’s worked a lot harder- though shaw has stepped up this season, he’s just nowhere near as good
Berba - the comparison was that both were available at the time, both play the same position. We went for hype, Liverpool bought shrewdly.

A wum to say hard work trumps talent??? Robertson was nothing special at Hull but has just gotten better and better every season due to hard work and good coaching.
Generally speaking Shaw is a very solid defender, the major issue with him seems to be his fragile mentality.
I've never been a fan but hes a decent defender. Never worth 30m.
