It’s not straightforward though tbf. On one hand what he’s done at Liverpool has been incredibly impressive but if he doesn’t win a major trophy while he’s there then he will have failed in the eyes of many. Although we all want attacking entertaining football what ultimately matters are trophies. I can’t really think of any team who people look back on and rate as a top team who didn’t win anything apart from the Brazil ‘82 side, and even with then the narrative is always about how they never won anything.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s all relative to the perspective and how much an individual or a fanbase cares about what others think tbh. If you gave me a choice between us finishing second and playing the way we have done all season or finishing fifth playing a different style of football but winning the CL, I’d take the former. I’ve never been that bothered by trophies though, I know a lot are.

Liverpool fan calling talksport yesterday saying they should get a trophy for finishing second... Joint winners he reckons because of the points tally
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's fυсking idiots like that claiming to be Liverpool fans who give the real Liverpool fans a bad rep.
Probably just some glory hunting millennial who jumped ship from Arsenal or United when they thought Liverpool might win something.
Bless

He was a scouser... Obv not playing with the full deck of cards but still
If I was still a match going fan I would take the great football, it's what I pay to go and see.
As a TV viewer, which I now am, trophies become more important, hard to say why really, but it's the way it is, for me anyway.
Would still much rather be in Liverpool's shoes than United's regardless of what you have won.
You enjoy watching Thursday night football at home to some no mark eastern European side and I'll watch Liverpool play Barcelona and no doubt some other European greats next season.
But which club is in the healthier position with the happier fanbase?
Hint, it isn’t the 2017 League Cup winners...

You stick to Ole out and Thursday nights.
We are happy with Klopp even if its trophyless.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re happy not winning?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We will fall short against the 2 best sides in Europe.
Next year Klopp will have to take the cups more seriously but my goodness have we improved or what.

Would you have said that before you had won the league in 2012?
I'm pretty sure for Liverpool fans right now having waited so long for a title that winning it is ultimately what they want from Klopp, however good he has been so far.
Also, who are great teams of the past that people talk about that never won anything?

And Utd have taken over from Everton for being the most bitter fans in the league
The highlight of Manchester United season is Huddersfield getting relegated. Played 2 at John Smith and lost 1 and drawn 1.

That would bail Jurgen out on the silverware thing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No offence, but you'd have to be a complete and utter numpty to believe that was a legitimate call.

Possibly not and I’ve made the same point you have there a few times, that’s why I said it depends on the perspective of the individual fanbase. My own perception of it will be based on everything that has happened to me as a City fan.
On your last comment, again it depends who you’re talking about as it’s all relative. I personally remember our championship winning side with Keegan, others won’t though but then I couldn’t really care if they did or not.
I think for a lot of people, they’ll view that more as what other people think of them or their team, which has never overly concerned me.

What do you want as a source... Bbc reports of a gluebag with a scouse accent ringing talksport?
I totally agree. Wasn't partly what made that Keegan side memorable to you and some City fans because of how good they were (relative to their position). I'm sure we've discussed it before but attractive football often goes hand in hand with successful teams and if you take away the way that team played and the quality they possessed they wouldn't have been as fun to watch or achieved what they did.
Like you say it's all relative and will differ from person to person. For me I got into football in the mid 90s so was quite spoilt and had both success and entertaining football so I see the 2 together. This has kind of been reaffirmed with how sh-t we've been in recent years with little to no success and sh-t football.
I've no doubt the vast majority of Liverpool fans love Klopp and rightly so as he's been brilliant. But right now I'd imagine Liverpool fans are desperate to win the title, however that happens. They can be proud of the way their team have played this season but if they end up with nothing I bet they'll be gutted.
I remember when Pompy won the FA Cup
Yep agree with all of that. Ive said before, I imagine for a lot of Liverpool fans, winning the title will feel like it did for us in 2012 in terms of the end of a long journey and closure.
Yeah, we'll hopefully have that around 2050 once Woodward has gone and we begin to resemble a football club again.
