A new dawn, and a new name 👍😀
I think a few were saying they’d rather it end tonight rather than Wembley....unfortunately got their wish, but it would have been nice to have Wembley to look forward to for a few days, rather than the post mortems...☹️
The relief will come once Bielsa decides his future for me... personally I don’t see him staying around. The guy put in a huge amount of effort breathed, slept and ate at the training ground..... can he do it again given we have a history of not spending????
People can blame Berardi, cooper and keeper all they want - said it before and i’ll say it again - The board deked up this season not the players. Not buying showed they wanted to do things on the cheap - bitten in the backside....
Afridi dead on, penny pinching in January has cost us long term
It's weird, I'm feeling same as you LIW. Relief sums it up. We were well and truly beaten tonight by the better team. But, I'm proud of the lads. Proud of the season. Proud of the style in which we played.
I've also been thinking of harj a lot last month or so.
I was really hoping this would be the year as it would've felt bloody perfect and fitting for him and us.
But, I'm also with Afridi. I'll be much happier when I know Messiah's staying. And I'll be giddy as fook if the club then back him with the level of quality additions we need.
This season's been brilliant on here. Long may it continue.
Have to agree LIW, it's been one helluva ride, but not sure my heart could take much more! Hope we can keep Bielsa though, he's brought the whole Leeds family together for me, need him next season.
Hope Bielsa stays, but if he leaves we have a ready made replacement in Corberan, who has bought into and practices Bielsa's ideology. Did a great job with the U23s and has been heavily involved with the first team.
It was just cruel that we had to watch our team do that twice within a few weeks. Missed out on 2nd and then miss out on playoff final. Similar set up to Wigan game - cruising 1 nil up and then concede an equaliser just before half time and collapse. I had got over that game and now it's happened again.
Time for us to take a break. I'm not watching any finals, internationals whatever this summer.
Just hope Bielsa situation resolved quickly. Like what he’s brought to club but there’s always life afterwards.
It wasn’t Wigan game that cost us in terms of points etc but I think it really cost us in terms of mentality and so these playoffs felt so half hearted....not in terms of effort from players but in terms of expectations.
AR and Orta have been mainly quiet this session which has been appreciated, but now is time for AR to step up, we’re half way through his 5 year plan, he needs to be clear with fans as to what comes next.
Half of me is devastated for the manager, players, people at the club and the young fans who want to see us in the PL, the other half which is what I feel personally and I've said it before on here can take or leave the PL, I've seen us win the league, beat all the so called top six regularly and watched great players, this season has seen great football and been a great atmosphere I'd take that every year, the club needs to act quickly announce MB is staying and get the players in he wants then we go again, think I will have a little break on here unless I have anything interesting to report, have a good summer and see you soon, MOT
Last night we had 5 key players out! Derby can't compete with us when we have a full or next full team. Last night was the sum of January and it's failings.
Thing is, Bielsa now knows what it takes to be successful in this league and I trust him to know just what kind of players will win him this league.
He took a team full of average players to the top and was screwed over by Ken Radrizanni. He eludes to it himself.
We get pace, we get clinically astute players, we get creativity and athleticism...we win this league.
For me it's game on. Champions 2020.
Bielsa Brighton...
Got a nice ring to it ?
let down by the boardroom yet again.the same theme that has haunted the club for the last 16 years.
Like this liw. I'm reminded of what I said to my mate after we beat derby 4-1. I don't care if this blows up in a month, that's the best 2 games I've seen us play in near 10 years.
Sadly it blew up against Wigan. Thereafter it's just been a death rattle. But we've had more to get excited about than we have for years and despite the disappointment this is light years away from the bates/gfh/cellino garbage.
Play offs are exciting but it is not fair. Top 3 should get automatic promotion end of.
Mike, the evidence shows that Bielsa doesn’t know what it takes to be successful in this league, he’s had 2 bites at it and failed both times.
Having said that I feel it is quality of players that has let him down....but... he insists squad was good enough and deep enough, to me Bielsa has been great, but he is flawed in his inability to cross that final hurdle either through tactics, subs or refusing to add to his squad.
Much as I love his integrity, one does have to ask the question, would you prefer Bielsa and fading missing out on autos and play offs or a Warnock type manager who blames everyone but gets us up?
Personally I value the integrity and standards Bielsa has brought, above the blame culture elsewhere, but there needs to be some give and take from all concerned at Leeds to find the missing piece of jigsaw.
Feeling very flat this morning but not as bad as I thought I would.
Truth is deep down I realised after Christmas that the overall sum of the parts was going to struggle.
MB has got the best out of some limited players and in Kalvin's case turned him into a very good player and allowed Roofey to show his class up front in his favoured position.
Problem is, his methodology is not suited to 46 game fiercely competitive league without a serious injection of fresh talent which unfortunately was not forthcoming in January.
Also although I am extremely grateful for the much needed injection of credibility has given to our club and the best football we have seen in years at times his dogmatic approach to Plan A is a failing - sorry but losing from 2-0 up with 3 quarters of the tie over last night was a case in point.
Having said that thanks to all the team and MB For the best season for years.
We had Warnock though and he was a complete failure. That approach wouldn't work at Leeds imo, you can't be the scrappy, defensive team when you're the biggest club in the league.
My hope is Bielsa stays and learns from his mistakes and the board back him properly. He needs to realise that a squad of 20 is too small when you have 46 league games, not a drastic change but hey let's bring in 2 more than we would have.
Best, the problem is the club, not Warnock (although I’ve never liked him). We never support the manager/coach properly in the windows and do. It give them enough time.
What a season.......best for 16 years, I've really enjoyed it all, club has finally come together and is United. Can't wait for next season.
Off on holiday next week now for 2 weeks of sun before my mrs has twins in Aug. Have a great summer everyone.
Have a good one harrogate!
Couldn't post any views last night as I was so numb with shock and disappointment that we didn't get past a side we'd comfortably beaten 3 times this season.
It still feels unbelievable how we just imploded not just last night but since January and we as fans have every right to feel angry because we should have been promoted this season and we are going to have to start all over again against the likes of Cardiff Fulham Huddersfield Luton Barnsley and it will not be any easier so I'm sorry but I do not feel relieved I feel stunned that we are still in this Godforsaken league
Also and I know it's like a broken record as it's been said over and over again but I despair at the club's total incompetence not to strengthen in January sufficiently yet again like Groundhog day and no wonder there are some conspiracy theories that the ownership didn't want us to go up. Why on earth would Radz not want us to go up? Someone explain that to me because I can't believe that.
Anyway moving forward I hope Bielsa stays as if nothing else a bit of continuity is paramount if we are to have any chance of going up next year and a new manager and starting again would not be the answer for me.
12 weeks to sort this out now, lick our wounds and be ready for another gruelling season but hopefully lessons have been learnt from everyone and we go up in style and stay in the premiership and compete and eventually challenge and we can look back on this painful experience as a blessing in disguise, but bloody hell it hurts!
I said the same last night.
Hope is what kills you.
As soon as it was over at least we knew where we stood
I am 36 with a kid. Gone are the days where I would mope around for weeks on end.
We should've strengthened in Jan but we didn't fail because we didn't spend....we failed because the players made stupid errors and bottled it.
This side was good enough for automatic, we threw it away

If we were good enough for the autos, we would have gotten there. We had our run of good luck, winning a lot of close games in November and December, but overall, it ran out.
You can criticise this team all you like, Gelderd, but there's plenty on here, me included, who feel nothing but gratitude for what Bielsa and the players and the Club have achieved this season. We have made huge progress.

Strangely kind of feel relieved
