I was tempted to reply. I've never used a chip in anger enough on a mobile device to bother one way or another. Particularly when android apps ar written abstracted from the mettle as opposed to chip specific c++ compilation.

Unless you are playing 3d games or encoding video I'd be surprised if anyone would feel the difference in their hand

If you're doing that youd probably want to be using something better than a phone anyhow.

Cheers Admin.

I know what you are saying, but I am a bit of a OCD when it comes to gadgets and like to have the better performing stuff. Within budget of course.

Difference is 100 euros between the two different processors.

I do use video encoding when streaming movies from my Synology server.

But you would advice me to go with the Exynos version?

You will notice no difference whatsoever. There is nothing that people do on phones which either of these variants won't be able to do.

Its not about not being able, its about having the fastest phone. And Snapdraggon is faster, simple as. But I get your point.

just go with price. My last current phone is a nokia 6.1 2019 £180(camera is poor though). The best most forceful recommendation i have is to buy a phone that is part of the android one ecosystem. It's pure android and you get the security and android updates almost immediately.

The actual question is if the phone in the link can be used in Ireland. I am not sure. If its for the Asian or US market, it might have issues with European networks.

Yes, I have the same problem as you when it comes to these things but when I weigh it up against cost, I take the logical path. Why pay €100 more for something that will feel exactly the same?

gsm aranea is the place to go to, its really to do with the spectrum bands supported. It's normally not an issue.

You just have to check for frequency. I doubt it won't work.

Have you ever tried a Linux flavour on a phone? Like Ubuntu Touch for example?

Your brain works at a human perception level. A page loading in 1.3s vs 1.45 seconds is not what you should be considering. That £100 is something you can spend on a new phone a few years down the line. That's where the value lies.

Ubuntu touch is kinda marginal/dead now. Android is essentially pretty close to linux.

Fair point, I just have to overcome the facking OCD. I am just expecting some upgrade down the line where Snapdraggon would give me an advantage and then I'd be kicking myself for getting the Exynos version

I use https://xubuntu.org/ daily and I'm working on an android app for a dublin based startup. So have complete appreciation for both platforms.

And the other issue is battery life on the Exynos is definitely not as long as with the Snapdragon.

I like to flash other OS (or varients of Android) onto old phones. It can give old phones New life.

The Android One ecosystem is quite good if you want less bloatware on your phone. Although, some companies have better UI, especially if you like to use gestures as shortcuts. I currently use Nokia 8.1 (or X7 as it is called here). Other than. The apple style notch, its pretty decent for the price (around £250 when it came out).

Ubuntu Touch seems interesting but like the OS in PC it's quite niche. I don't think they promote it as often now as when it first came out. Last time I read about it is that it can run android apps, though I'm not entirely sure if that is the case or that it is the case now.

On your dilemma about the processor, you have to weigh up whether the speed in the processor is absolutely needed. If it isn't, then is it worth the price difference. If in both questions it's a no, we can assume that it's not such a big deal.

I greatly dislike when folks describe themselves as “being ocd” when they have clearly never been diagnosed with this painfully crippling anxiety disorder.

My immune system seems to be a bit weak. Must have a touch of the auld aids.

You should get that checked out.

Yeah, there's a woman in my place who has been going on about her OCD, whilst she tidies her desk(a bloody necessity for anybody working at a desk one would think) for years. She tries to make out that she is paying so much attention to details because of her OCD. I got in her car to go to a meeting down the road(not dogging an actual work meeting) and it was a bloody mess.

Speed test G: Snapdragon clearly faster than Exynos and noticeable too for normal use.
