I'm happy with the two signed so far, so not a mare yet, though there's time.

I think Bruno Fernandes is the target instead.

Longstaff is a midtable level player and McGinn championchip level.

You watch them à lot Mane man ? And why would we trust your judgment? Are you more expert than the professionals?

Some would say that Robertson was the same when you signed him......

This would be a huge signing for us as he’s just what we need. He offers something that none of our other midfielders do, which helps the balance of the side so much.

As for Man Utd. You can only judge whether, or not, they should have been in for him at the end of the transfer window. They might have other targets for all I know. Personally I think a lot might depend upon what happens with Pogba. If he does go then I’d expect a statement signing to be made the other way - but we shall see.

Many clubs would have gone for him, clubs with better appeal than, no offence, Leicester City.

No club was forthcoming though with a bid. I am afraid there must be more to Tielemans story than just plain, oh United just overlooked him.

I don't know if he has underlying injury concerns etc but its very odd that only one club went for him.

It remains to be seen how much of a good deal this is and those who are talking about Ed being incompetent in this case, should wait and see.

We'll get Fernandes.

Great signing for Leicester though

I am guessing here that he wasn't a player Ole was looking at.

While he looked OK at Leicester I wouldn't say he was that eye catching in the games I saw. Admittedly only a few.

He’s been absolutely brilliant. Just pulling all the strings from midfield. He was always a big big talent but lost his way at Monaco but he’s been absolute class. I’ve watched him a lot and knew about his talent before he came. Delighted to have got him over the line

The impression I’ve got from the Tielemans saga is this:

Leicester had him as their no. 1 target from the start. Tielemans and his agent, quite reasonably, waited to see what bids were around and see what options were on the table.

Man City and a Liverpool weren’t interested.
Spurs may have had a look but had someone else in mind as their first choice.
Arsenal and Chelsea don’t have the available transfer funds.
Man Utd don’t know what Pogba’s doing, can’t commit to him being their first choice and are more interested in signing British players, likely feeling they’ve had enough of foreign mercenaries disrespecting the shirt and sensing a backlash from fans. It looks desperate and it probably is. In the confusion, they never ended up being serious about Tielemans. He and his team waited for a bit and concluded it would be better to give them a wide berth. Leicester were still interested, Tielemans was happy playing here last season, he felt it was time to decide and commit, and here we are.

Which is all the better for us.

What a coup this is for us. Tremendous signing.
He was absolute quality last season and at only 22 years old, his stock will only rise.
Ndidi, Tielemans and Maddison in midfield.... nice.

Don't know why you've tagged United in this, when every man and his dog knows they want Longstaff to replace Herrera and Fernandes to potentially replace Pogba.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love us to sign Tielemans, but we're not in for him. Would be like me tagging Leicester if we were to sign Longstaff. Strange

Tagged on the United board because United were considering an offer at one point. And it’s funny that we appear to have had a better window than you yet again
