CB, Creative and another winger with pace.

Then to replace anyone else we sell (not likely)

A top center back, I'm not having this going into a season with a rookie loan with no Championship experience as our first choice.

Another no.10 who is proven, I want to see all the Clarke money go into a top player.

Another good choice creative midfielder like Dack

Problem is what CB can we get comparable to Jansson for £5.5m.....a difficult task made a lot harder.

At that level of fee I can see us signing either an unknown from a lower European league or an ageing British CB looking for a last pay day

I wonder if we go for a PL youngster who hasn’t quite made it yet

Where are we at? Excellent question and one I was considering on my way into Leeds this morning. Where am I at with LUFC?

Football and supporting a club is supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Yet summer after summer, year after year, we're put through the wringer by one bunch of loons after the next. Last season gave me significant hope for the future. A couple of additions to a squad that in my opinion came up short mainly due to blow out and maybe a lack of pace/ability up front was all we needed in my view. We've seemingly part way sorted that, then sold (i'll use that term loosely given the price) a talisman and really good player within the squad. All the talk of his negative influence might be true, but on the pitch he's a damn good player at this level.

AR warned of a difficult summer. Looks like he was being honest. But then have all the meetings in far flung lands, with wealthy owners, just been a media/comms exercise designed to deflect and create hope within the fanbase? Who wants to be a "feeder club" to PSG as I read somewhere? Really, is that what we want to become?

Bizarrely I still can't wait for the season to start. I'm still ever hopeful that the influx of promotion winning stars will happen in the next few days. Hope's a wonderful thing.

At least this morning I can smile and think of the future with Leeds. Now contrast that with the images of Pontus on social media and how excited he looks to be signing for Brentford. That guy has moved away from a real shot at a legacy. He knows/knew, that winning promotion with this club would cement a status of legend - he'll not get that at Brentford with all due respect to them.

Absolutely nothing heard from MB. Nothing at all - unless i'm missing something in the media? Nothing in the YEP to say he's happy with squad developments, it's what he wanted from the club etc.....

Are we still to have more disruption? Who'd be a fan eh?

Shocking deal and sold to a club in the same division, absolute madness. It will come back and bite us.

how effing desperate are we?

posted on 9/7/19

Not my research, but found this on twitter:

"Last season (Championship):

Jansson in XI:
37 Games, 18W, 6D, 13L.
1.62 points per game, 48.64% win ratio. 29% clean sheets, 1.21 goals conceded per game

Without:
11 Games, 8W, 2D, 1L.
2.55ppg, 72% win ratio, 54% clean sheets, 0.81 goals conceded per game"

Surprising

At least we made a profit on him

Heard last night from a good source that: “He is a disruptive influence who thinks it is all about him”

Maybe why he was told to find a club and maybe why only Brentford offered £4m up front.

So many maybes but I suppose we will never know the full story. Whatever the club says will be watered down crap and I don’t think Bielsa will slag a player off in public.

We must be desperate, why would give a another club in the same division such a huge boost? Especially a bogey team.

If more players leave I wouldnt be surprised

In terms of individual talent we have a number of players who could go be in premiership squads and could earn 3 to 4 times more money doing it.

I like my current job, but if someone offered me 3 times my salary to go work for another company I would be out of here like a shot

Ayling, Phillips, Roofe, Cooper are all good enough to get interest from premiership sides.

Could be a long summer

Desperate to get rid of him I think. Not sure we are that desperate for the money in this case.

I think it’s more a case of Bielsa wanting Jansson to buy into his ways and Jansson refusing. They are both strong characters but ultimately there’s only one winner unless the club want anarchy to rule.

Makes you wonder what Radz and Orta said to convince Bielsa to stay on for another year. Surely they didn't say we will sell our best players and see how we go.

But hey its not as if Bielsa was flooded with job offers from elswhere

posted on 9/7/19

It's not so much the wanting to sell him, players move clubs all the time, even key players like Jansson. It's the fee and the selling to a division rival I can't get my head around.

Stoopo

You know when year in year out, you defend the club and year in year out, it ends up making a mug of you.

You think they’ll ever break that cycle ???

Lies, damn lies and statistics as the saying goes. Lots of factors could explain these stats. All I can say is our defence looked more solid when PJ was in it and I did not have palpitations every time a ball came into our box which I do when Cooper and Beradi are there.

Its not the selling of him its the ludicrous fee, we've basically sold him for what we paid for him and he's been in the Champ team of the year twice.

A horrendous deal and we need at least 2 more decent signings now

You’d like to think that knowing for a few weeks that he was leaving we will be signing a CB today/tomorrow not holding my breath,

It's funny how from last season we were on a high and moving in the right direction with some sort of stability, and it's gone to the same old, same old. We were seeing that just a few tweeks and getting a few right players in and stability with having the same coach back on board, plus the whole set up having the experience of what it takes for promotion, we were going to see another good season coming. But Leeds don't do it that easy, we have had our usual uncertainty of who is staying and who is going, and how our money from the players sold will be spent. This next season is a big one for AR, one way or another, it could be glory or a bumpy ride. Anything below third or promotion is going backwards.

Last year pre season there was similar bile and discontentment amongst the fans and I think we all expected a mediocre season so from that perspective then as we are all foaming at the mouth again pre season with our expectations lowered we should go up as champions! But still WTF is going on?

posted on 9/7/19

Forgot to add. Your right Jonty, we need to hear more from Bielsa, and not from the management spinners that we don't really trust. The fans look towards the man they see as boss (Bielsa)..... Just talk to us Bielsa, the fans seem to hang on to every word you say.

The fee is lower than it should be. It’s disappointing. But you don’t get ‘market price’ when you make it known someone is available. It says you need the money or there’s a problem with the player. Potentially both in this case.

You get more if you can drive an auction... where were the other buyers?

I genuinely don’t know what he’s done to fall foul with bielsa other than what has been reported. I do know Some stuff about him though. He’s clearly a complicated character... tough guy one minute, getting knocked out by a header, feigning injury the next. The fans might love all the fist pumping, but he was also an attention seeking drama queen.

Very good footballer when focussed, but bit of a pr*ck, in my view. Haven’t seen a bunch of ‘good luck, sorry to see you go’ messages yet from his teammates yet.

Ultimately you don’t have to be popular to be part of a successful team... but depends how disruptive, how authority challenging he was.

It’s football, if we start the season well he’ll soon be forgotten, if we don’t this will likely be the transfer that the fans use to turn on the club.

Unless we sell Phillips next week....

If Don is saying he’s not holding his breath re signing a CB we know that Ben White is PJs replacement. If Roofe goes too, that’s weaker at the back and up top. We have shed 4 CBs in this window, OK some may never have made it, but red mist Berardi is still here, he never learns his lesson that guy, need strengthening will it happen? Who knows?
