Before roman, we certainly were

Miles below now.

Yeah agree, but that was 20 years ago.

Chelsea have been the most successful club in England over the last 20 years and have won everything.

I know fans don’t like to admit it, but we are decades away from even competing with them.

Let him come train at Thorp Arch for a week on a trial.

If he survives that and thus can be Bielsa fit, maybe he can have a future at Leeds.

Given where he played the last few years.....

I think his age is probably getting overhyped. Barely played last season because Chelsea have good options at CB. if he was willing to play for us without exorbitant wages then I'd have him at Leeds.

I'd imagine he gets one more shot at Villa which he'll take

I think he's got one more season in him. Villa or Leeds? Premiership or Championship?

I think he wants to be first choice. That isn't guaranteed at Villa. It surely would be at Leeds.

If we're discounting players at 33 then we need to shake our heads.

Cahill, if he were interested and affordable, would be a great addition to our squad. He may not have it for a top 4, playing in Europe side, but championship level? He's 33 not 83.

Hes 3 years younger than when Terry was playing in the Championship and hes always been a bit quicker than JT anyway

I think hed have a shot at first choice CB at Villa tbh. He probably backs himself to start there

With them having just spent 20 million on Mings and looking to take Tuanzebe on loan?

Don't think he's a nailed on starter.

No offence to Mings but I doubt he ever hits the level Cahill achieved. If Cahill gets that end of career golden period that many good CBs have had he'll have a good run in the side

I'm surprised that if Mings were that good that Bournemouth would sell him? Maybe they've got loads of other better options at CB, or need the money for strengthening elsewhere?

I'm not saying that cahill wasn't good.

In fact I thi k he has been one of the best centrebacks of the past ten years in the premiership.

However past glory and ability does not mean you can it today, if it did our winger problems would be sorted as we could just play Eddie gray on wing.

The guy hasn't played for a year and he was never the quickest anyway (that didnt limit him by the way) he had hardly played for a year and wants a two year contract wherever he goes.

For me it's too much of a risk and I'd rather we spent that money on someone like ajayi who we know there are less questions around current ability

Pabs joined us at 31. IMO Cahill would be a great signing so much experience, would be awesome in the Championship
