It was done to gain Paddy Power more publicity and to help sell more shirts. It is naive to think that your CEO is really worried about having a 'clean' shirt with no sponsors. If they were, they wouldn't have needed a Paddy Power gimmick with it.

Its all about trying to increase the standing amongst the fans and increase revenue via ticket and merchandise sales; without losing the revenue of a sponsor.

I think there's only about 2400 available for general sale every home game and those will depend on the football we're playing / our league position, as with most clubs. This campaign was about brand exposure for both us, paddy power and the saveourshirt campaign. Its nothing to do with generating ticket sales or selling more of a shirt that will probably break sales records for us regardless as it's the kind of kit us fans have been asking for for years.
