Think we all expected the right signings to improve the team and make automatic promotion a certainty but that hasn’t happened so I can see why fans are down and not very optimistic.

Thing is Don, you look at Leeds objectively and we’ve got a good chance of promotion.

I think Rad kneecapping Bielsa at every opportunity is what makes me struggle to believe we’ll go up.

However, with Bielsa at the club we do have a chance. He’s an outstanding coach for this division.

Completely deflated.

Jansson still hasn’t been replaced, we already needed another CB before he left.

So in defence we have gone backwards by losing one of the best in the league and replacing with a loanee.

In attack we of course have Costa which is a huge upgrade.

However other than that we are relying on wingers (not counting Pablo as I hope he is playing centre) who have a handful of assists and goals between them.

Unless we sign a decent CB and another attacking player we don’t have enough.

Have to admit to the slight hangover still, subsided a bit as I cracked my bottle of sol open last night with the bottle opener to the tune of MOT...……

Seem to remember on here last year, sale of Viera, squad nowhere near good enough, mid table at best blah blah blah and then what a journey just falling short at the end.

This year we have the stability and maybe just short of a couple of marquee signings but think the club has some exciting youngsters/u23 signings that may just surprise us.

Going to stay positive but for the manager/owner/players the pressure is going to be on from the start as nothing less than promotion will do. I just hope we fans are at our best not worst and Bamford needs cheers not jeers, Wood a great example.

I think someone has already posted but pushing top 2 by Xmas or manager will go and it could be back to the drawing board.

In Bielsa we trust...

End of the season was utterly brutal. Basically watched our team's hopes die TWICE within a month. Wigan and Brentford then Derby the month after. Especially tough last month.

But if we go and beat bristol in 1 week with a good perfromance, that will all be lifted. Imagine an August similar to last year when we were walking around in disbelief

posted on 26/7/19

....WIll it be totally lifted?

Suspect most will be thinking let's wait to see where we are come early spring as post Christmas always seems to be our Achilles heel - it's got to be different this year.

No hangover

It's over move on

Suppose everyone will be more skeptical now Wilko.

I'm still shocked we didn't go up. From the Sheff Wednesday win...still doesn't make sense.

Hard to be optimistic with a team weaker than the one that failed last season

Optimistic....we have lost Pontus but gained Costa so we are about par.

I think we need another CB definitely but I'm still going in to the season expecting us to be up there, 100%

We don’t have a centre back who is reliable (fitness and discipline) and fully trustworthy.

We have the same left back options that saw us play 4/5 players there last season.

Both keepers have massive doubts over them.

The defence is a mess at the moment. We needed signings when we had Jansson, selling him was ridiculous.

Costa is a fantastic signing, but I don’t know if he’s going to be enough.

I can see the season starting well, and I think we’ll be in the top 6 for the majority of the season. But there’s a sense of fragility in the side now. One push out of balance and I can see us folding like a house of cards again.

Let’s just pray we sign some quality before the window shuts.

No hangover

I was so pumped looking forward to this season with our new signings

Hasn't happened and now I fear we will be back to being mediocre mid table rabble

Really disappointing preseason

Oh well at least we had one exciting season and we will look back fondly at what can be done when the club actually has a crack ie. bringing in Bielsa

posted on 26/7/19

I think Bielsa knows what he has and what he can do with them, Pontus is a player that pushed Bielsa to far, Bielsa is one that won't let the players step out of line and he's shown the rest off the team how it goes!..

And stats showed last season we can manage without Pontus, so don't understand why everybody always come back to him, I know he's a class act but the team will get by!..

Hopefully it doesn't give others ideas if they want out and they play the same game!..

I think your thoughts Hayemaker pretty much echo my own.Heart is hoping we challenge for top 2 .my head our lack of activity in the window and our injury record is telling me a different story.it doesn't feel right.I really hope I am wrong

Yes, F'ed right off

Still an hangover here.
Summer transfer activity could have lifted it

Equal in goalkeeper department
Worse of central defence unless white is top class
Equal in midfield
Equal in strikers
Better off with winger options

Looking positively kiko starts performing, white is the new hero, Harrison improvement continues, Costa is a diamond and we romp the league

Looking negatively both out keepers will struggle and exchange shirts, central defence will be plugged by misfit players, Costa will flatter to deceive whilst cavaliero destroys the league and we will have injuries galore

This

No hangover but the memory of how it all went wrong still fresh in the mind. We just refuse to learn by our mistakes. Kebab sums it up perfectly.

Completely understand the deflation.

Personally I don’t want a storming start, look what happened last time!

I want us to fix throwing away these stupid points, to have smaller injury list and rise to top for turn of year.

GK: Same as last year, both error prone
Defence: Weaker than last year unless White proves to be a wonder signing. Still no proper CB cover
Midfield: DM Philips and Forshaw same as last year
Midfield: AM Costa added and Harrison looks to finally be coming good so definitely stronger here
Strikers: Same as last year - will they suddenly start avoiding injury and take the chances they were missing last year? Think we already have the answer to the first part of the question, Roofe is already sidelined for 4 weeks before a ball is kicked.

Overall: Slightly weaker defensively, should be stronger up top with better quality service from the flanks Costa and Harrison. Still lacking a natural goal scorer though

Not overly confident we can handle the pressure of being championship favourites but hope I am wrong.

In April, I was talking about how teams were soaking up pressure and beating us on the counter, despite the fact we out played them. I was bemoaning the fact that Bielsa's methodology left us vulnerable and that teams had figured a way of playing against us.
I had also talked on occasion about game management, where we let leads slip and how sometimes a draw was a good enough result.
I fear Bielsa's intransigence may result in a less than positive season.

It's not so much a hangover I have, as that feeling of anger at our team for it's lack of character when push came to shove. The single most infuriating display (not including our shambolic play-off collapse), and the match that dented our confidence, was the home defeat to 10-man Wigan after going 1-0 up. That was so shocking, it will haunt Leeds fans (and players, I hope) for many a year. It's that lack of character, of moral fibre, of balls that makes me worry about next season. Having a great manager is all very well but Radz and Orta have notably failed to strengthen overall and when the injuries kick in (as they've already started to) I fear we'll struggle again. Come on Leeds, please prove me wrong...
