Time to stay strong

I think the main issue is the add ins and the fact Leicester rate their chances o getting CL Football as much as they think Utd will get it triggering the clauses.

Mersey - totally agree with your opinion on this and Dunge - you are spot on re his valuation if he stays and either has a poor season or buckles down and helps us to achieve Champions League etc. In my opinion we win either way. If he goes at the full valuation then happy days but if he does stay and puts in a proper shift for the team we've still got a valuable team player, giving Brendan more depth to the squad. It's about time the Red Devils woke up and smelt the coffee - they aren't the force they once were and, until they get back there they'll have to suck it up and experience what life is like for the other 16 teams in this league!

Can you explain this a bit more, please?

Rumours are your player wants to leave.

United can afford to pay what you're asking but think it's too much.

In what way has 'not being the force they once were' affected this deal?

Laughable comment.

Apologies Dublin - I credited your spot-on comments re valuation to Dunge in error.

Winston - You misunderstand me - "not being the force they once were" is currently an accurate comment IMO and I meant that Man U can't expect little old Leicester to reduce their asking price just because it is a former top 4 club trying to play hard ball. Either put up or shut up!

So if United were 'the force they once were' then Leicester would reduce their asking price?

Get real!

The problem is that United still think they are the force they ONCE were! And yes, they delude themselves into thinking not only that they still are, but that so-called lesser clubs are there to be taken advantage of. Unfortunately, for United's sake, our club aren't either desperate to sell or need the money.

Get real?? A dose for reality is needed for deluded United fans who still refuse to accept they are miles behind their neighbours at the Etihad or their Liverpudlian neighbours.Hopefully it will dawn on them sooner rather than later.

You haven't answered the question.

Why would Leicester reduce the price if United were a stronger force?

Will they reduce the price for City?

Seems to me you have a chip on your shoulder about United and have tried to rationalise it in relation to this situation, but if you're honest, it just doesn't make any sense.

I think Maguire would move to force our hand more if City offered less. Not that it would change my stance on where we should tell them to go.

It must hurt a little that a player at the level of Harry Maguire is almost beyond your reach but City can pretty much sign whoever they want.

I’ll be honest, it would hurt me if Derby swapped places with us!

Man Utd are waiting on Pogba sale? Leicester City want top dollar as Utd are seen as blocking our path to top 6. Why strengthen your rival on their terms? Get real.

It would hurt if that were the case but it isn’t.

There are players out there of that description but Maguire isn’t one of them.

so winston
why are man utd holding out for the price they want for Lukaku when he clearly wants to leave?
why did you not accept the 54 m offered for him.
I guess it is because you do not feel you are getting what he is worth.
So why the hell should we accept less than we deem Maguire is worth.
like some one said put up or shut up and go look elsewhere.
We do not want or need to sell our best players and that is the Cruz of it.
If you want him pay the price if not go the hell away and find someone else.
By the way you could of had him cheaper last year

You said Man utd can afford to pay but they think it's too much.
so you are saying he's not worth what we are asking, so fine jog on and find someone else

I didn’t say that.

And this might come as a shock but I’m not Ed Woodward.

I think you misunderstand my point.

You initially accused me of suggesting Leicester should lower their price United don’t think he’s worth it. But I didn’t say that.

I’ve said all along that for all we know, United have made a bid and it’s been rejected, and there has been no other communication.

So why are you telling United to jog on? Are they camped outside your ground or something?

Seems to me you’re making assumptions and getting annoyed by them.

posted on 30/7/19

I don't recall accusing you of anything.
I stated a fact that Man utd have not met our valuation just like no one has met yours for Lukaku.
I asked you if you thought we were asking for more than he was worth.
Maybe you need to read what you write.
The reason for telling Man utd to jog on is because as your the one stating Maguire wants to leave and claiming Man utd can afford to buy him.
The fall from grace is never easy to bear

posted on 30/7/19

“So why the hell should we accept less than we deem Maguire is worth.”

Why ask me this then, if I didn’t say it?

I suggest you learn to read and then perhaps we can have a reasonable discussion. At the moment you’ve got so many strawmen in play you can’t see your arrse from your elbow.

As some one once said, never argue with an idiot they will bring you down to their level then beat you with experience.

posted on 30/7/19

Said without a hint of irony.

You don’t even know what I’ve said. For example, I never claimed Maguire wants to leave.

You’re having arguments based on things that haven’t been said.

Winston, I’m going to disagree with you on all levels:
- we’re not a small insignificant club
- Man U are not the greatest club on earth
- Harry isn’t desperate to work with the managerial genius that is Ole
- Leicester shouldn’t just be ‘grateful’ for Utd to just want one of their players
- Rodgers doesn’t smell
- My dad is definitely bigger than yours.

Now stop being so arrogant and argue the point.

Okay, I'll concede on all points apart from my Dad. He's facking huge.

To be fair, I was also bluffing on my Dad, he’s tiny.

Don’t tell anyone though.
