You're an idiot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
you are too simple to understand this. let me try one last time:

a player plays well for thirty minutes - he even scores a goal. he then proceeds to lie down in the centre circle and he goes to sleep for the rest of the game, would you say he had a good game? of course you wouldn't.

well being sent off is exactly that.

even worse, because you can not sub that player off.

the first job of any footballer is to not be sent off. it's the minimum requirement.

Have you actually gone mental Hippo?

Yeah but not many. And even in the games they have they aren’t often nullified out wide. It’s ridiculously hard to do, their wide play is the best in world football. Using their failures at Old Trafford as some sort of example doesn’t really mean much.

You do understand that Williams wasn’t sent off?

Maybe he's ready to be back up but not yet ready to take Shaw's place. He does look better going forward than Shaw though. If he keeps up the pace of development he may replace Shaw within a few seasons. Though I'm not sure we have the fans ready to wait for it.
———
We could just sell Shaw and sign a good, attacking left back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have one in Williams. He’s excellent going forward; a more proficient attacker than defender at this stage in his career.

Whether he can carry his displays for the U23s on up to the seniors is obviously an unknown - particularly given that like Greenwood, he hasn’t even had a full season of reserve football yet - but if yesterday’s performance is anything to go by, he’s ready to get games.

And didn’t deserve to be sent off given the rules of the game?

Depends when and how you get sent off, Hippo. If he scored a hattrick and got sent off in the last minute, I don't think many would say that he had a bad game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yes but how often does that happen?
------
That's beside the point.

Ole was sent off preventing a goal. Don't remember anyone saying that was a bad game.

So, your point is null and void.

We hardly nullified it, their only goal came from a Robertson assist.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wasn't good play though, it was a defensive error. It should have been easily dealt with just like the other balls they'd put in.

I'd say we pretty much did nullify their attack.

Hippo

You do understand that Williams wasn’t sent off?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yes but why is that relevant? he clearly should have been for that tackle. 9 times out of 10 he would have been. it's inexcusable for anyone to tackle like that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you watched it?

He won the ball and whilst his foot was quite high, it wasn't head height or malicious.

I think Williams successful debut flys in the face of hippos criticism of ole and his use of the youth players

But he wasn’t sent off so your point is completely irrelevant to people’s view on Williams’ performance. Or you too simple to understand that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
how is that relevant? doing anything that could get you sent off is inexcusable. you have to evaluate what a player did, not how others (in this case the ref) reacted to it.

Hippo doesn’t want to admit we have a decent youth player on our hands because his argument of every one of our youth players being Sunday league standard would literally go out of the window

Now, let's use you little fictional narrative, but change the sending off time to 93 minutes and the score line to 5-0. There is no way he could have played well in the previous 93 minutes?

Now change the red card to a possible red card that didn't get given

I'll stick with my factual statement, you are an idiot

And one of the most stupid ever seen on our board.

Hafi will be introducing a new stat now. Expected sendings off.

Nothing wrong with having two. Shaw’s the left back version of Phil Jones.
