It's a very tough one to call. Conditions may be a factor. A win for us would be a massive boost. So I'm sitting on the fence not my Ercol chair and will go Chairmen 1, Rovers 1. Bingham or Taylor.

I do not like Gomes in instead of Sadlier, but may be he offers more of a defensive role. It will be difficult for the Rovers, but I'll say 1-1 with Taylor scoring.

Only having read the reports it does seem Gomes is in for his defensive abilities rather than creating and attacking. Can't see him playing 90 though. DM has lots of options from the bench

Watched Gomes the other night, no idea what Moore sees in him. Without doubt our weakest link, he just looks lost, infact I would say it's like playing with 10 men. 9 if Thomas is playing.
I believe in this team, not sure about Moores tactics but I'm going 3-1 victory Bingham first goal.

Well, I did not think either side deserved to win. I'll have to watch both critical incidents (red card and penalty) again in slow motion as at the time both seemed harsh. DM sees no problems with the decisions according to the Free Press.

OK, I've watched the events in slow motion. However, on iFollow slow motion quality is not good, but I still think both decisions were harsh.
DM says the ref said of Anderson's tackle both feet were studs up. However to me both were near the ground whereas earlier in the game one Wycombe guy had a studs up nearly at waist high that was not punished.
As far as the penalty, how can Jeep put a Centurion Tank to the ground?
As DM says, you cannot cry over spilt milk - but I can!

Having had a good look at our CB choices, Anderson, Wright and John cut the mustard but Baptiste and Daniels do not. Bapstiste got done for pace the last time I saw him and Daniels tends to dive in. Sheaf looks the business now he has settled, so he is an option.

Good news on whiteman

An early Christmas Present indeed! According to the Free Press, his respect for Darren Moore was a big factor in his willingness to stay. Let's really push for the Championship.

Pauline and my thoughts are with everyone in the UK after the tragedy on London Bridge today. Our thanks to the passer-by and the first responders for controlling the situation so quickly.
What does a prisoner "out on licence" mean?
Hopefully, we can all get back to something as footie challenges.

I hope Donaldo is OK - I was hoping he'd go to the Gillingham game and give its a real report.

I cannot understand some of DM's selection choices. Why does he see so much in Gomes? Why was Taylor left on the bench so long? Also, the short-term so called strikers have not really added anything. I know bringing in good people outside the transfer windows is almost impossible, and in the striker role we have been a little unlucky with injuries. The problem with Sterling's dead-leg seems serious. I hope this is not a career ending situation. Some people who have been here have had bad luck in that way - Ryan(?) Mason and Tommy Spurr come to mind.

I am told that Taylor is nursing a groin injury and was left out of the cup tie in the hope that he will be ok for the more important league games.

Game against Leicester:

Well, I subjected myself to the torture of watching this game - at least it was not at 07:00 on the Left Coast! Unless we have a real positive turn-around against MKDons, I really worry about the future of this season.
When I saw the team, I thought “This will not be easy”, but I did not think it would be as bad as it was. However, other than the goals they scored, Leicester did not create too many chances, but did have some where they should have scored. The problem was, we did not really create real chances - so different from earlier when we created chances, but could not score. My comments on the players are:
Lawlor - maybe he has lost confidence as he has not played much, but I almost had a nervous breakdown every time he faced an attack. I think he could have done much better with the second goal, and his distribution is dreadful.
Halliday - totally out of position as a wing back - OK going forward, but lacking any defensive performance, and poor passing. Maybe this was a DM fault with the team selection?
Daniels - this guy is slow, does some dubious tackling, and this game was overly sloppy.
Blaney - shows some promise, but poor passing, and miss-reading the game and his marker (first goal).
Whiteman - tried to get the team going in his role as captain, but even his passing was below par.
Amos - probably the best performance of the “kids” - some great tackles and some great cross, but was caught out of position on occasions. While James maybe the better choice at the minute, can either of the play on the right instead of Halliday?
May - ran around as usual, but unable to make a mark on the game.
Taylor - tried well, but like May did not make enough impact. Both did not get real service.
Thomas - hopeless, what more can I say.
Wright (Sub) he will be good when up to match fitness, but is liable for some dubious tackles - lucky not to get a yellow card.
Bingham (Sub) - slightly better than Thomas.
Gomes - never know what DM sees in him, but he did have a good volley that nearly deceived their GK because of a deflection.
Overall, a very depressing performance.,
