It’s not going to be 1st with the current squad and management is it?

I don’t think it’s much to expect a better manager to be doing better than we currently are. There’s very little to prove that Ole is a particularly good manager.

Doesn't that apply to every manager, that à better one would do better?
The problem is knowing which is better.

And our fan base is going to give someone else three years to transform the squad? That’s a fantasy.

Depends who it is and how well they do in the first couple of years. There were many that were willing to give LVG and Mourinho longer than they got.

Yes, that’s how football usually works, you bring in a better manager if and when you can. I don’t think it’s that crazy to suggest we could get a better manager than Ole. There were many concerns with our past 4 managers that they wouldn’t work.

There are many willing to give Ole longer than some want him to get.

Giving Ole 3 years might not work, but not giving three consecutive managers 3 years has already proven not to work.

There’s nobody available who will transform the club within the next two years, so I’m willing to give Ole a chance.

That’s a daft reason to keep a manager that is not good enough. I’d keep him until the end of the season, barfing a complete disaster, such as battling relegation, and then look to appoint a top manager in the summer when they’re more likely to take the job.

But the idea of just saying give him three years, despite showing nothing to suggest he’s worthy of such a time frame, is just a hit mental.

The three signings he made in the summer suggest to me he is worthy of time. Add to that the trash he sent out on loan or sold.

What?

We’re worse off after the transfer window though and haven’t replaced Herrera or Lukaku which was essential and which we are clearly suffering from.

posted on 1/12/19

It was essential to get a right back and a centre back. It wasn’t essential to replace that dope up front and Herrera wasn’t essential either because he wasn’t exactly pulling up trees anymore than what McTominay has done.

Revisionism has made Lukaku and Herrera worldies. They weren’t.

You think he deserves that time despite overseeing one of our worst transfer windows in living memory. Football does mental things to people’s ability to think rationally.

Midfield was and still is our biggest issue. We’ve loaned out our best defenders and replaced him with someone who is arguably no better.

Didnt say they were worldies but they clearly needed proper replacements.

You think he’s the one making the transfers?

You tell me. You’re the one saying you want to give him three years based on his three signings.

He identifies his targets. Woodward and co do the deals.

posted on 1/12/19

And it doesn’t worry you that these were the signings he made? And ignored the midfield? I can understand people using Ole’s faith in youth as a reason why they want him to get time. But using the summer trasnfer window is mental.

Not that it matters, he won’t get that long and we’ll get a better manager. Hopefully they’ll have better judgement in the transfer market.

No, because our defence had been crying out for a RB and a CB, Injuries to Pogba and McTominay cannot be legislated for.

posted on 1/12/19

We’ve spent over £130m on our defence and it’s not even that much better.

posted on 1/12/19

It was crying out for quality in midfield more than anything else. And Ole’s decision to ignore it, in favour of spending £125m on a defence that is no better than last season, will cost him his job. And I don’t think anyone would really have that much sympathy for him.

posted on 1/12/19

Successive managers have spent about £400m on our midfield and it’s noticeably worse. I will wait to see who Ole buys in that are once he bins off Pogba, Matic and Fred.

What relevance have previous managers got to do with it? They all failed and so far Ole is struggling himself and likely to fail.
