We definitely rode our luck, and then Stevie Wonder provided that spark of magic.....

Feeling a bit insecure sandy ๐Ÿ˜† from what I saw you started off a bit shaky at the back ,city we’re all over you parts of the game , but credit were it’s due great win for spurs ๐Ÿ‘

Theres no doubt that City created far more chances than us but that would not have been the case had they been reduced to 10 men after 12 minutes as they should of been.

You could look at it from a different perspective.

Spurs are responsible for Aguero not hitting a barn door.
Spurs are responsible for City going down to 10 men.
Spurs (represented by Lloris) are responsible for the penalty save.

Why?

Because we defended as best we could, were more disciplined than City, and more clinical than them in attack.

Overall we got what we deserved and so did City.

It was a Mourinho masterclass
The two best managers in the world clashed head on in a one on one battle and the victor was Mourinho.

All there is to it.

You defended better than they attacked and with a gameplan that Jose knows like the back of his hand that will always end well for you.

Totally agree Sandy, City were the lucky ones, they were lucky they did not have to play the remaining 80+ minutes of the game with 10 men.

Had we been a media darling club, then this result would have been hailed as a team winning when they play badly and the sign of a great team.

The media really is infested with a desperate collection of former United, Pool and Goonz players, there is no wonder so much unbalanced shiete is spewed on an almost daily basis.

I heard from the SSN on ref watch that if you would of scored in the two minutes it took to give the pen. Your goal would of been disallowed? What is the f-ing point of continuing to play then? That is a load of bollox. Oh worse than that if City had scored the goal would stand and no peno.

Actually Sterling should have gotten a straight red for that studs up tackle on Alli. Dunno what Mike Dean was thinking. So possibly they should have ended up with 9 men.
And Dean gave them a pretty soft penalty, Aurier did get the ball, all of it.
That said, I think we were lucky, defending was panic mode sometimes.
And two of the best shots on our goal came from our own defenders, specially the rocket that hit the crossbar!
But, as Pochettino used to say... "that's football".

Our new additions have come to play ... Lo Celso, Bergwijn, and NDombele. Winks is getting better too.
Tanganga is turning out to be a talent.
And hopefully Sissoko willl be back soo....
so...what's not to like about the future.

I haven't heard of 1 City fan who said you didn't deserve to win.

No reason to go all Scousey about it though.

Yeah I saw that, odd reaction from Jenas IMO.

The Athletic had a good piece about the result and what it might mean going forward:

Aurier didn't get anywhere near the ball. Nailed on pen IMO.

Sterling should have been sent off TWICE. Straight red for the challenge on Dele, booked for his first dive and sent for his second after the pen.

End of the day, we soaked up the pressure, defended well (for a change), and yes, got very lucky with City's missed chances - one could argue some of these missed chances were due to some great defending.

First game we've won against a "top 6 side" this season.

The pen was a masterful act from Aguero. Knowing who is playing on that side and realising that the player is there trying to go to a tackle, Aguero puts his body across Aurier who foolishly tries to tackle through him.
Pen no doubt. Lack of intelligence from you know who. But Sterling was a dive no matter what his mate Jenas tells you. If it wasn’t he would go sliding in and won’t ask for a pen. The cheating bastad

Football is a results game we were playing a good side and won. This is positive for the rest of the season and something to build on. Yes we were fortunate not to go behind but that is how it goes. Plus was a great atmosphere as well.
