I might have this wrong. I just pitched in with the first season I watched City play at Highbury (1967/68) and found that Arsenal had only accumulated 29 points from the first 25 matches (up to and including the Sheffield United game). I’m not trying to be clever though 😗 I’ll have a look again.
That’s assuming 2 points for a win and one for a draw, of course, as it was then. Perhaps this should be calculated on 3 points for a win. I haven’t looked at any other final league tables.
