I was saying about Ed Woodward at Utd being close to the sack and I reckon may the same if Spurs start losing money.

The stadium build was a right fvck up budget and timeline wise and if they start slipping down the league with the squad losing value along the way then.....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Levy won't get sacked when he runs the ship. We could hit an iceberg and he still wouldn't jump into a lifeboat.

I think it's a PR move.

It's a kind of 'look, we can get Mourinho, we're as big as any other club' statement.

The problem is, if it's not backed up with signings and a bigger wage structure then it will be meaningless in the long term.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Levy doesn't care about making statements if they don't come with any financial reward. Most of all he was hoping Jose got top 4 and turned the club's fortunes around. So far it's looking like he and Mourinho have facked up. No trophies this season and top 4 a distant dream.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well yeh, but PR is a longer term move.

Arguably it puts Spurs on another level with who they can attract.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would anyone be attracted to playing for Mourinho anymore?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think it's about necessarily wanting to play for Mourinho, I think it's more about the long term image of the club.

Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with it, I just wonder if this was part of Levy's thinking.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think it's about image as much as it's just a decision to bring someone in who was expected to do a good job based on their past experience and it's looking like an error of judgement.

Shiiit football and classless antics isn't much of an image to send out.

You might be right - it just seems so odd and Levy must have known he was a terrible fit.

I'm not talking about image in that sense, I'm talking about the image of what managers and players the club could attract.

If Mourinho goes, could the club attract a higher standard of manager than they would have done after Poch left? I don't know, but arguably they could.

Levy is rubbish with his decision making so getting someone who's a terrible fit isn't out of his capability.

I was a little surprised we were able to attract Jose to the job to begin with but given how far his star has fallen and continues to fall, plus the size of the club now, perhaps it shouldn't be a surprise. We could have just as easily got another big name in Ancelotti, and he'd probably be doing a better job but we/Levy thought Jose was the best one out there to get us some success.

Thank you Neo. Please don't encourage the guy. I suspect he's been replying to me all over the place which is weird all things considered.

I honestly think Levy was sold one here...I reckon Levy was thinking he was getting a happy rejuvinated Jose of the Inter, Porto and early Chelsea days not the washed up, negative tactic, destroyer of clubs of the Utd days Jose.

Yeah was the worse decision in our modern history imo. Tbf I was willing to give Jose a chance (I did not want Poch sacked) but he has had his chance with me and I want him gone.

It's mental how quickly he has split the fan base and turned them against each other. Did this happen at Utd?

Pretty much!

I think it took a but longer, but like you, I wondered if he's try a new approach and learn from his mistakes.

But it's same old Jose.

And when you're paying the money that these fans are, it's really not good enough.

No, he's in for the long run and I'm sure that Levy will give him time.

I would say he'd last till next December/Jan because that's a full pre season and potentially two windows to work with.

If Levy goes down the Klopp route and accepts a few seasons finishing lower to try and rebuild so be it, Liverpool fans accept progress but it was a slow build.

We should have no expectations for this season and probably the next

THudd - The Special ONE. (U1029)

But in Mourinho's world, rebuilding means spending big - particularly on wages.

Will Levy sanction that?

And how long will the fans give Jose before they turn on him, with his dour football?
