Wage Cuts

Celtic, as usual, being professional, measured and open in their response.

Just as you would expect.

You should thank Ann Budge for this. She stuck her head above the parapet and was slaughtered for cutting wages and now everyone else is following suit.

You'd imagine (probably wrongly) that the guys at Celtic will be okay but I feel for guys at clubs down the league and below who will need that money for mortgages etc. Tough times for everyone.

A lot of talk about clubs going into admin and if they do due to COVID19 then there will be no points deductions for this or next season, could be made up Twitter pash. If Barcelona players have to take a wage cut it is hard to see how any club isn't considering these measures

I see the English clubs are trying to do a collective enforcement of wage cuts.

I might be being harsh here, but I have less sympathy for the English clubs than I do elsewhere because of their perceived greed. Part of me would take great joy in seeing their bubble burst, which probably says a lot about me

Hi all,

Hope you are all well.

Someone I know works for celtic and is having a standard amount of hours payed, which on one hand you may expect an organisation with those resources to honour.

But for me, they do not have to do it (as evidenced by other huge organisations failing their staff) thus they deserve a lot of credit for it IMHO.

I also heard from someone who is friends with a parent of a young player with an English club - apparently there were some footballers moaning about the loss of win bonuses when this all kicked off.

The wee lambs.

Or alternatively they were being honest and upfront with everyone and ensuring they have a club for the fans to support when this is all over....

Green tinted specs on there for sure.

It’s now been what two weeks, all relative to clubs finances. I’m hoping Park’s wealth is off the radar as we like majority of Scottish are on bother with this

It's ok Brian somebody is going to save you with loads of new investors, Daily Record has spoken so it be true 👍

All top players at the big clubs should have had the decency to forego their wages until this passes to allow the clubs to use the cash to pay the employees at the clubs who depend on the weekly wage.

I am fairly sure the likes of brown at Celtic or Morelos at Rangers as well as any high end premier league player could afford to do this without even noticing it.

Hearts did it 6 days after the league was suspended, they were already struggling.

They have also threatened to get rid of players if they don't accept, whilst emailing agents about signings for next season.

There is absolutely hee haw to be thankful to that auld c0w.

i dont think its green tinted to do the best by your staff and pay them as long as you can before taking measures.

1 week. it shows just how poorly hearts are run.

how are livi doing btw?

Tbh i'm not shocked ivan, u support a club who abandoned a match and then charged people for the replay so i can see why you have such views...

They're a flucking rancid club from top to bottom, one of the few i wouldn't mind seeing absolutely burried.

But then i remember i'd miss pumping them at Tynecastle.

cheers budge, an inspiration in that you have run your club so badly you couldn't last a week without fans through the gates.

How is everyone's own work doing?

Me and the wife are still fine in our line of work (steady....)

Wife's brother got made redundant yesterday, he's distraught as they were already struggling.

My old man works in the shipyards and they've closed so his future is a bit up in the air at the moment, he's also self employed so not ideal.

It's an absolute nightmare scenario for so many families.

Really, there should be a complete suspension on all bills etc. if you are seriously affected by this.

Luckily I'm still getting paid full wage by my company

Dunno how long that will last. Mum and dad are still working. Royal mail and NHS so key workers. And seeing how I still live at home, I'm actually OK thankfully.

Were looking at being shut for at least 3 weeks up to 8.

Said it on here many times.
She's not a serious business person and will run the club into the ground.
Piggy backed on her much smarter partner and made a few quid. Now thinks she's titan of industry.

We are OK I can WFH as long as is necessary

As Mrs Irish works for the department of education she is on paid leave.

Agree with your point on the suspension of utility bills etc

i'm working from home, there are still enquiries and people will need stuff done after the shutdown is lifted, such is the nature of the oil and gas industry.

mrs works for a flooring company in accounts, they are looking for government assistnance but I think she will be working full time through it as she has to sort out her year end stuff.

Suspect we'll be wfh until June, 95% of our workforce are now working from home and it's working very well so think we'll continue it for a few months at least.

This

I've not looked in detail at all banks but my bank's mortgage payment holiday just adds the payments on for the rest of the duration and is obviously subject to interest.

This is a 'normal' arrangement for a payment holiday, I get that it needs to be funded somehow, but given these are unprecedented times, maybe they could waive the interest?

On the subject of parents I dont need to worry as both are at the party in the sky or underground.

My plan when this is over is to wfh at least 3 days a week from now on.

"How is everyone's own work doing?"

Still on site at the moment, however looking likely that today will be my last day here.

Got a new role starting from tomorrow anyway, which I can get 90% of stuff done at home in any case.

Will still be getting my full wage as well, so can still pay all my bills etc.
