I still think its decent. On a shoestring budget too.

The only good thing about it is the marketing that went with it.

They absolutely nailed that.

Not so much the film...

Towering Inferno (Tiring Inferno)
All quiet on the Western Front ( because everyone fell asleep)
Both great films but over two and a half hours long.

I hated The Towering Inferno with a vengeance.
As a deck cadet in the Merchant Navy one of the jobs we were expected to do was to be the projectionist for the weekly film shown in the officers' bar/dining saloon. I was on a 314000 tonne supertanker when one of the films we received was Towering Inferno (5 reels).. Because of the watchkeeping system I had to show it twice in one evening and hand rewind the reels after both showings. The film freaked out our captain because the accommodation superstructure on the vessel was 6 decks high including the navigating bridge. For the next two days I was given the job of making a lifeline for each side of the bridge that reached down to the maindeck. 3" mailla rope straight off the coil, figure of eight knot every 5 feet because the captain was a short-a**e. Was he overreacting? Well, if the situation was so bad that it was impossible to get down from the bridge using the internal stairs, either of the port/starboard bridgewing ladders (that's stairs again for the landlubbers) , or via the walkway from bridge deck to the door in the funnel casing and down the internal ladders then even Newman and McQueen wouldn't have had a hope in hell of saving us.
