Players safety always has to come first. There is a reason batsmen go to the crease dressed up like gladiators, helmets, padded up all over. Give them bad or artificial light as well as a ball hurtling at them at speed, then it is only right the umpires use light meters.

Agree with Vaughan for a change. The pink ball should be used in tests in England going forward.
Would be better for the spectators too. When you're at a test it's difficult to see the red ball even in sunshine. Compare that to white ball cricket where you can easily see it.

Agree with this. Bad light stopping play is infuriating. It's bad enough with rain but there's not a lot that can be done about that.
Utterly ridiculous they can’t just turn the floodlights on and get on with it.
Test cricket needs to move into the 21st century, it really doesn’t help itself at times.
They should have just got on the coach and back to Manchester where it hasn't stopped being sunny.
